We could go on and on about the beach in Ocean City, Maryland. And that makes sense, because our beach goes on and on for 10 miles! No matter which part you visit, you’ll find clean, beautifully maintained sand that’s ready and waiting for family fun. And unlike some other beaches, ours is absolutely free! So you don’t have to pay for, or hassle with, beach passes.

Enjoy swimming and sunning along the Atlantic, not to mention surfing, fishing and even kayaking and canoeing! And during the summer, you'll find free family activities six nights a week, including concerts, movies and Beach Olympics!

When it’s time to take a break, visit our three-mile boardwalk, voted by the Travel Channel as one of America’s best! Get out early for an invigorating bike ride, shop an endless variety of stores, or head for the arcades and amusements.

About our Beaches

Ocean City's beach is open to the public from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. (We use the overnight hours to keep the beaches clean and beautiful.) For your protection, the Ocean City Beach Patrol is on duty during the summer between 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Please be sure to obey their instructions, swim near a lifeguard at all times and have a buddy with you when you're in the surf. Please note also that by Town Ordinance, throwing balls or Frisbees and other sports are not allowed on the beach between 9 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. from May 30 to September 15.

Surf's Up

Our waves have welcomed surfers and boogie boarders for decades. Two beaches are reserved every day for surfers; their locations rotate daily. In addition, one section of beach along the inlet is reserved for surfers. It's open Monday to Friday during the summer, except on July 4.

For a list of the day's surfing locations, plus the OC surf report, you can:

Surf Fishing

You're welcome to cast your line from the beach. For safety's sake, regulations require that you remain 50 yards away from anyone on the beach or in the water between 9am and 6pm.

Pets

Pets are allowed on the beach and boardwalk at any time from October 1 to April 30. Pets must be leashed at all times and the owner is responsible for removing any waste.
There is a Dog Park located on 94th Street (bayside). For hours and access pass information, call OC Recreation and Parks at (410) 250-0125 or click here.
