I need some help with finding accommodations that are easy enough to get to and close to the boardwalk and family fun stuff to do. We're planning a family reunion for August 3-5, 2012 and the hotel we were going to use just fell through. The ability to have a Sunday brunch onsite is helpful. I would also appreciate any tips you have on finding a local park where we can reserve a baseball field for a few hours in the afternoon.

My top choices are the Holiday Inn and Suites, the Clarion, the Princess Royale or Princess Bayside and the Carousel.  Each would gladly accomodate your party.  Although you can not reserve a baseball field, you can find space at Northside Park for a variety of games.

First, you mentioned close to the boardwalk, so try Holiday Inn Suites or Quality Inn Boardwalk.

However, you do not need to be on the boards to be close to everything.  OC offers a great bus system for travel, and there is so much to see and do all over OC that you never run out of things to do.  So a few other hotel suggestions, Clarion, Carousel, Castle in the Sand, Princess Royale, Princess Bayside, Quality Inn Oceanfront.  All of the mentioned hotels would have breakfast options.

There are several parks throughout OC, so check out www.ococean.com and see which one is closest to your hotel.

One final point, August stays will require a minimum stay and since it is prime vacation time, I would suggest calling whichever hotel you choose as soon as possible so you can obtain the desired number of rooms.

Thank you,
Anna G.

Definitely try the Holiday Inn and Suites on 17th St. They have a lovely cafe and onsite restaurant (both serve the full menu) plus each room is a suite so there is plenty of room to spread out.
You could also try the Beach Plaza Hotel. Their new restaurant, Adolfos, is an Ocean City landmark.......just in a new location.

As for a local park, contact the Parks and Recrecation Dept. for the city.
