My fiance and I are getting married in August and are planning on going to OC for our honeymoon. We are looking for hotel in the middle of all of the action! We love to people watch and would like a hotel directly on the boardwalk with an ocean front view. Any suggestions for party central?

Congratulations on your upcoming marriage!

There are lots of great hotels that will meet your needs. All of these places are nice and are an easy walk south on the boardwalk to where all the action is.

Beach Plaza at 13th Street on the boardwalk is a nice boutique-type hotel that was fully renovated last year. Oceanfront rooms, but no balconies and no pool. http://www.beachplazaoc.com/

Courtyard by Marriott
at 15th Street is ocean front on the boardwalk. New property built about 3 years ago with lots of amenities including ocean front and ocean view rooms with small balconies and an indoor pool. http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/sbyoc-courtyard-ocean-city-oceanfront/.

Holiday Inn Suites at 17th Street is right on the boardwalk. Many rooms are ocean front with balconies. The hotel has lots of amenities including indoor and outdoor pools. http://www.ocsuites.com/

Dunes Motel is at 27th Street, right at the north end of the boardwalk right at the tram station. It is an ocean front hotel with many ocean front rooms with balconies. It is a great, affordable ocean front motel. It also has rooms with balconies that face the bay. They have an outdoor pool. http://www.ocdunes.com/

Dunes Manor is a couple of blocks north of the boardwalk at 28th street, all rooms are ocean front with balconies. It is also an easy walk to Jolly Roger Park featuring Speedworld, Xtrem Zip Lines, and great amusements. This is one of my favorite properties in OC, and the place I always recommend. My family stays there often. Their rooms have small kitchen areas, but are more like traditional hotel rooms than suites. They have adjoining rooms. They have an indoor/outdoor pool that is open year round.  http://www.dunesmanor.com/

Also be sure to checkout Seacrets at 49th Street on the bay for great music and parties all day and night long! The picture below is from last May at Seacrets.

Actually, most of them will allow a minor to check in as long as an adult has called and made all the arrangements.

Check out http://www.ocmotels.com for a selection of great venues in Ocean City. My personal favorite is the Spinnaker.... it's a great value situated in the heart of everything going on in Ocean City.

Also can go on either ocean-city.com or oceancity.com and search ocean front hotels on there also. Once you find a hotel your interested in look it up on Hotels.com or Tripadvisor.com for rankings and reviews.

I just rented a condo on the 16th street ocean block, what are some of the businesses on the boardwalk at this location? I am needing this information so that I know how to describe the location of our beach wedding. For example, "beachfront on 16th Street and Thrasher's." How have you seen this written on an invite?

There are mostly hotels along the boardwalk in this area, some with businesses in the ground floor.

Working from south to north here is what is there: Just North of 15th Street is the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel. It is a very nice hotel that is about 4 years old. Captain's Table is an excellent restaurant in the Courtyard. Just south of 16th Street is the Sea Scape Motel. It hosts Pepper's Tavern, a Mexican themed bar. Between 16th and 17th Streets is the Boardwalk Quality Inn. They have a pool bar and on site restaurant. Between 17th and 18th Streets is the Holiday Inn & Suites which is home to some boardwalk business and the Coral Reef and Hemingway's Restaurants.

Have a great wedding in OC. This is a great area of town!

Any hotels that allow pets?

If your coming during the summer months I recommend getting a pet sitter back at home.OC is not pet friendly, too many rules, fees and regulations for a pet owner. Besides, I think its cruel to bring a pet on vacation so it can stay in a foreign room while your out all day.

This will be my first time renting a condo as we now have a 2 year old son. We rented in the cori noel condos. Is that a decent place? And is there anything in particular we can do with a 2 year old? Thanks!

I am not familiar with this building but know that it was built fairly recently and is on 2nd Street right on the bay. From the outside it appears to be a very nice building. There is lots to do in that area of town. You are an easy walk to the boardwalk. The Kite Loft is just a few blocks to the north and you can watch them fly the many colorful kites. An easy 8 block walk south on the boardwalk will bring you to Trimper's they have lots of great rides that are even fun for a 2-year old.

There are also a few boat rides in that area you might enjoy.  If you want a speedboat type tour of the bay and the  ocean try either the Sea Rocket or The OC Rocket. If you want a Nature Tour (bay side only) then try Assateague Adventure. It is a great way to explore the bays behind OC and Assateague Island. If you want a fun boat trip for the kids try the Duckaneer Pirate Cruise (bay side only).

You can also drive down to Assateague. They have a great Visitor's Center with some exhibits and a touch tank that kids enjoy. It's about a 15 minute drive south on Route 611.

Have a great time in OC!

Do you know of any places to stay that allow pets, that are within a half a mile of the beach?

There are several places in OC that allow pets, all of them within half a mile of the beach, and some of them right on the beach.

Clarion Fontainebleau - Ocean front, 101st Street. This is a great large property with lots of amenities. Most of the rooms are ocean and bay view. This is the nicest property on the list with the most ammenties (www.clarionoc.com/)

Coastal Palms Inn and Suites - Ocean block 120th Street. It was recently taken over by the Carousel and completely redone. It is very nice. Staying here provides access to many of the Carousel's amenities (just 2 blocks away). Also has an outdoor pool and free loaner beach chairs (www.coastalpalmshotel.com)

Barefoot Mailman - Ocean block on 35th Street. (www.barefootmailman.com/)

Windjammer Apartments - Ocean front, 46th Street. A nice older property with studio, 1BR, 2BR, and 3BR apartments. I stayed there for many years. (www.ocwindjammer.com)

Safari Hotel at 13th Street is ocean front on the boardwalk. I belivee that The Safari is the only place on the boardwalk that takes pets. (www.safarimotel.net)

You should be aware that dogs are not allowed on the OC beach or boardwalk or beach anytime from 1 May to 30 September.

There is a Dog Park on 94th Street that you can use for a small fee assuming your dog has all required shots. Leashed dogs are also allowed at Northside Park at 127th Street.

Have fun in OC!

Is it better for a family to stay right on the boardwalk or off. Would a six year old enjoy staying right on the boardwalk?

My family (consisting of 9 and 11 year old) enjoys staying on the boardwalk.  However we stay between 10th and 25th Street normally so you are close to all the attractions, yet far enough from the noise and crowds.

A couple hotel suggestions are Quality Inn Boardwalk, Holiday Inn Suites, Grand Hotel, Tidelands Caribbean.

If you are booking a hotel, don't forget to check out www.ocisfree.com for participating hotels, specials, packages, and you may be eligible for FREE certificates for restaurants, attractions and activities to stretch those vacation dollars.

Have a great time!

Can you pleae tell me what hotels will be offering package deals for the winefest weekend in September?

Typically, hotels don't start advertising their Winefest packages this early, but most of them will have them.  I would check again towards the end of July and early August at some of you favorite OC hotels.

In the past when I have gone to Winefest, I have stayed on the boardwalk so I can take the tram down and not worry with parking.

How much for a 4 night stay in August?

Difficult question to answer because not sure of the dates of stay, your preferred location, etc.  However, in order to give an idea of hotel costs, I used August 17-August 20th (Fri - Mon) on www.ocisfree.com

Basic hotels ranged in the $150-$250/night and hotels with greater amenities (indoor pool, fitness, restaurant, etc.) were $260-$360/night.  These rates were based on peak summer weekend rates.  If you choose mid-week the rates would be less.

In addition by reserving through www.ocisfree.com, you may be eligible for FREE certificates for restaurants, activities, and attractions.  So as an example of the dates above, you would be eligible for 6 FREE certificates!

Hope this provides some basic information and as a reminder, the rates above are based on the 8/17 to 8/20 date range.

Thank you,
Anna G.
