Are there any mobile homes for rent? I've seen some on or near 12th street - I've always wondered because maybe they are cheaper.

Alexandra,

Check with one of the local realtors (our favorite is Coldwell Banker - ask for Breezy) and they should be able to direct you.  Also, check out VRBO, many will offer mobile home rentals, the other option is the local newspapers (Dispatch, etc.).

Best of luck,

My husband and I are coming to OC in October from Kentucky for a long weekend. Any suggestions for a bed and breakfast near or on the beach or any other places we should see while we are there? We are looking for a low key romantic weekend.

Hi Heather,
Ocean City in October can be very romantic. Bed and breakfasts in OC are few and far between. But there are two that I can reccommend.
An Inn on the Ocean is on 10th St and the Boardwalk. It is a lovely  place that has been in OC for many years, and is the only B&B that is oceanfront.  I have never heard anything but good things about it. And in October, they are having a murder mystery weekend October 22, 23.  Their website is www.innontheocean.com .

The other one I suggest is not on the ocean, but very nice.  The Atlantic House is on North Baltimore Avenue, one block back from the boardwalk. They do have some rooms with boardwalk views though.   Their website is www.atlantichouse.com
A good time to visit OC would be the weekend of October 1st and 2nd for Winefest weekend.  It is held at the inlet just off the boardwalk.  Wine tasting, crafts, vendors, music, and cheeses.  There is an admission charge and their website is www.winefest.com.
Also that weekend is the Waterfront Heritage Festival at Sunset Ave. There will be cooking demonstrations, fish cleaning techniques, live entertainment and no admission.
www.ocharborday.com
The following weekend (Oct. 7,8) is very exciting with Endless Summer Cruise In.  If you're into cars, this is a great weekend to visit OC.  Thousands of hot rods, muscle cars, and show cars line the streets and show off their style and parade on the boardwalk.  I've attended this event in the past and it is a lot of fun. www.endlesssummercruisin.com  This is also Octoberfest that weekend at 40th St. and the bay at the Convention Center. Lots of crafts, food, and drinks!
If you can't make it till the weekend of the 15th, that's Freestate Corvette Club weekend where thousands of Corvettes decend on OC with a big show at the inlet and a parade up the boardwalk.  There are usually more than 500 Corvettes that participate in the parade from every generation.
While you're in OC, be sure to take a long walk up and down the boardwalk.  Many of the shops will be open  and a lot of good restaurants.  Try Harrison's Harbor Watch at the very beginning of the boardwalk at the Inlet. Ask for a window seat for the best views of the inlet to watch the boats coming and going. You can see Assateague from there too so you might get lucky and catch sight of a couple of ponies. In the evening, drive up Coastal Highway to 125th St to Northside Park. It is behind the Blue Ox on the left, bayside.  You can park your car and take a very romantic walk around the grounds and out to the end of the pier to watch the sunset. Or take a drive to historic Berlin to see the Victorian architecture and shop their wonderful quaint shops.
I hope you have a great time in OC.

My husband and I are going down to OC in September. We've been before, but this time we are staying at the Hotel Monte Carlo. It looks nice from the website... has anyone stayed there? Is it nice? We got a room with a jacuzzi, so if anyone can give me their opinion of the jacuzzi rooms, that would be appreciated! Thank you and God bless!! :)

Megan,

I have not personally stayed there, but a family member recently stayed (June) and they thoroughly enjoyed the rooms, amenities, and staff.  I don't think you can go wrong with the hotel, amenities, plus it's in a great location - close to many attractions, restaurants, etc.

Have a great time - September is beautiful in OC!

Would anyone have any information about the Princess Bayside Hotel? I am thinking about going in mid-August. Any feedback you can give would be great. Thanks.

I have stayed at the Princess Royale about 4-5 times.  You have a choice of an interior room facing the indoor pool or an exterior room facing the ocean.  Both rooms face the ocean but the pool side room have a large multi story window overlooking the beach and ocean.  I prefer the ocean front rooms although they are more expensive.  I like to hear the ocean as well as see it.  I have always had good service there and the food is great.  It's kid friendly and it's close to many fine restaurants.

First time visitor coming Aug 16-20. Have a 10 yr old. I'm already booked at the Dunes Manor Hotel, efficiency room. Now I am second guessing myself and might want to stay at the Commander on the boardwalk. Any suggestions?? Or thoughts?

I can not vouch for the Commander but I have stayed at the Dunes Manor and was never disapointed.  It's far enough above the inlet where it is much quieter.  It has a nice victorian atomosphere with great service.

We are planning to escape to OC July 3rd and come back to Baltimore July 4th and I've been searching for hotel or somewhere to sleep but seems nothing is available. I am afraid we will have to come back to Baltimore because of no places where to sleep, any suggestions?

Joan,

Did a quick search and below are just the ones that may offer 1 night - however recommend calling to verify they will permit 1 night stay during peak season:

Eden Roc (http://www.ocedenrocmotel.com/)
Barefood Mailman (http://www.barefootmailman.com/)
Atlantic Oceanfront (http://www.atlanticoceanfronthotel.com/)
Commander Hotel (http://www.commanderhotel.com/)

Also, sometimes when there are vacancy signs, the hotel is willing to book one night for walk-in's.  Not sure that will help you plan, but a possible alternative.  Unfortunately because it is peak season, most hotels require a 2 or 3 night minimum stay.

Hope this helps.

Missy,

I've never stayed there, but know several people who have..... I've never heard anything bad about it.... so I'd say it's a nice place, clean and good for the kids.

Me and my partner are interested in visiting Ocean City for a weekend. We're looking for somewhere reasonably priced to stay but not too far away from the boardwalk. Any ideas?

Dominique,
I recommend trying the www.ococean.com website and clicking on the Rodney Saves link.  There are some amazing deals on the site.  Priceline.com also has some great deals going as well.  The Spinaker and the Dunes Manor are two of my favorites on the Boardwalk.  But if you want a great deal just based on price, the Fenwick Inn Hotel is running a great special now.  It is 140 blocks from the heart of the Boardwalk, but that is just a 15 minute drive.
