Every year a small group of friends tries to have a mini-vacation to Ocean City. We've enjoyed many times going to Seacrets over the years. Last year; we all seemed to tire of Hoopers Restaurant. They didn't seem to have anything decent for adult or kid food. We had a 1yr old with us. We also thought that Seacrets last year seemed very subdued - like no one was there. Did the summer end before we got to OC? This year we plan to be down Sept 11-15th. Some of us still are into the Seacrets thing; but we also have some who feel like they would be happier in a bar enjoying wine watching other people. And we also have a 2 yr old coming with us. We are looking for the following: * a bar-type atmosphere that would possibly appeal to both sets of "into-Seacrets" and "over-Seacrets"? * family-oriented restaurant with quality food and good prices. * good family-oriented breakfast places. * any known activities around this time? We know bike week is coming after us - but not sure if anything is happening when we are down.

Cynthia,

You've gotta go to Fish Tales.... a little night life, great food, drink and views... especially the sunset, and watch the fresh catch of the day come in!  Gotta try the fish tacos!!!!!  It is located at Bahia Marina on 21st Street and Bay... and the kids will love it... they'll spend hours playing on the Pirate Ship!!!!!  Have fun!!!

Bill F mentioned one of my favorite places to hang out, Fishtales.  You will love it!

This year we started to fall in love with Macky's also,  The food is great, the atomosphere is very nice, and the views are out of this world.

Cynthia,

We've found the following restaurants to be great for people of all ages, as well as economical:

1.  FishTales - others mentioned, but it is one of our children's favorites.  They have a fenced in wooden ship that is wonderful for kids.  You get to dine with your toes in the sand, enjoy your meal, and not have to worry about the kids.  They have Adirondack chairs around the inside perimeter of the play area for adults to kick back and relax while the kids play on the ship or in the sand.  The kids meals are served on a take home frisbee, and they have a wide selection of menu items to select.

DeLazy Lizard - a new addition to the OC restaurant family this year.  Again, they have a wooden play ship for the kids.  Adult menu varies (I particularly enjoy the frozen beverages LOL!), great views of the bay, and just a relaxing atmosphere.

Macky's - Menu is slightly limited in my personal opinion, but the views more than make up for their limited menu.  The kids can get nets to search the bay for marine life (which mine truly enjoy!).  For those that wish to stay beyond dinner - the bar area is great and quite large.

Blue Ox - There is an arcade area in the back for the kids (and young at heart).  We love their breakfast's - great prices and large portions.  The kids will love the aquarium located at the entry.

There is not any special events happening the weekend you are there - but you can always find fun activities.  Check out the local papers upon your arrival to find out all the happenings.  We love September and the Fall in OC - fewer crowds, but weather is still warm enough usually to enjoy the beach and water.

Have a great mini-vaca!

You should definately take the kids to Fishtales on 21st & bayside. They have a huge boat for the kids to play on while you wait for your table.

There is also Castaways on 64th St. & bayside. It's similar to Seacrets just not as big.

My favorite breakfast places are Bayside Skillet on 77th street, and the Satellite Cafe on 24th & 46th street. They both have great breakfast!
