I booked a weekend getaway with the family March 16-18. We are staying at the Marriott Courtyard. 1. Is that a good location? (It seems to be) 2. Besides the Parade are there any other St Pats events? or must do's with kids that time of year. I realize it is offseason.

My family and I have been celebrating St. Patrick's w/e in OC for the last 9 years.  There is so much to see and do, I'll try and list some of my family's favorites:

1.  Parade - can't miss all the fun, excitement, and great St. Pat's attire!
2.  Festival - 45th Street has a wonderful festival with vendors, food, music, etc.
3.  Boardwalk - you will find several shops open on the weekends throughout the year, and if the weather is nice, great time to pick up must-have's for summer at wonderful prices.
4.  Seacrets - this is for the adults, but Seacrets has a fabulous St. Patrick's Day party following the parade.  Mike "Batman" Beatty plays, as well as great bands and of course the bagpipe band.
5.  Food - almost every restaurant in OC will have some sort of special for St. Patrick's Day.  Indulge.
6.  Shenanigan's - can't miss this Irish bar on St. Patrick's weekend!

Have a wonderful time!

First off, the Courtyard is lovely. Be sure to have a meal inside their wonderful restaurant, the Captain's Table.  I believe there is a coupon on their webpage if you click on the "specials" box for a free appitizer or drink ( www.captainstableoc.com ).

You'll find things to do in OC any time of year.
2 indoor mini golf courses on 68th and 136th St.
Go ice skating inside the Carousel Hotel. The cost is $5.00 for non guests and they have skates available to rent for everyone.
Tour the Life Saving Station Museum on the new boardwalk.
Drive to Assateague and see the ponies and visit the nature center there.
You can still rent bikes at places like Dandy Don's on 11th St.

The Courtyard is a new (less than 5 years old) hotel with a great location. It is on the boardwalk and many rooms are ocean front with small balconies. The restaurant in the hotel, Captain's Table, is excellent. I have eaten there many times, and it is on a short list of my favorite places in OC.

The parade does not run near your hotel. It runs from about 62nd street to 45th street. It starts at noon on 17 March and lasts about an hour.

You will find plenty of other things to do, especially if the weather is nice. Here are a few ideas:

Miniature golf (great indoor courses at 68th and 136th Streets) and lots of great outdoor courses all over town.

Go Ice Skating at the Carousel.

Bowling at Ocean Lanes at 72nd street (call ahead to check for lane availability 410.524.7550) note: cash only.

Go to the  movies.

If it is sunny and warm, walk on the boardwalk, rent bikes,  and visit to Marty's Playland (our favorite arcade.)

Planet Maze (33rd Street) is also open and has an arcade and fun laser tag games.

Sometimes on nice days, especially on weekends, Baja Amusements in West OC may be running some go cart tracks.

Go to the Salisbury Zoo. It is a nice local zoo and it is free! They also have a huge playground in the park right next to the zoo. It is about a 30 minute drive from OC.

Visit the Assateague Visitor's Center. They have interactive displays, movies, and a touch tank that kids love. It is also free!

Delmarva Discovery Center - Lots of exhibits on cultural and ecological topics relevant to the Pocomoke River and Eastern Shore areas. Has some aquarium exhibits. In Pocomoke City, abut 50 minutes from OC. Open Tuesday through Saturday, 10am to 4pm. Fee for entry.

Have fun in OC in March!

The Marriott Courtyard is a very nice hotel.  You will behappy there.  Assuming the weather is nice, take the kids to the Salisbury Zoo for a few hours.  It is free and a very nice zoo.  We make a donation when we enter.  Old Pro Golf on 136th Street is another fun activity.

Laser Tag at Planet Maze is fun.  They have an indoor climbing/playplace as well.  On the Boardwalk the Ripley's Museum and Maze will be open as will the Ocean City Life Saving Station Museum.  They have a fun find the clue game for kids to play around the museum.  For a free admission coupon go to the Visitor Center at the Convention Center on 40th St.  Check out the Candy Kitchen Retail and Production Complex on 53rd St.  See candy being made and enjoy a make-you-own sundae bar.  I'll be in town that weekend as well!  Have fun!
