Hi. I'm from Johnstown and have to cross that darn bridge to get to OC too.  If it's on a Saturday, I recommend getting to the bridge by 10 a.m. or earlier to avoid traffic back ups.  The bridge is $6.00 to cross now and be alert for any traffic tie ups or lane closures.  Drive safe and have a great time.

My Husband and I are planning on staying at the Holiday Inn Ocean Front the week of August 24th, where is the beach located in respect to high traffic and/or low traffic of beach sun bathers?

The Holiday Inn is a great choice. The beach will still be busy that week so I would recommend getting a spot early if you like to be up front on the beach. I usually get up at 7;30 am and go down and lay claim of an area with my chairs and blanket. Then get a cup of coffee.

Have Fun.

Hi Julie,

I have always recommended Odyssea Water Sports. They have always been great with customer service and the jet skis have worked very well.  You can expect to pay about $75 for an hour and I also recommend renting a Go Pro camera to take a video of what you do. It is a great memory.

Enjoy!

Yes!!  You can start by taking a walking tour of downtown Ocean City.  Pick up a brochure at your hotel or at the Convention Center or City hall and see all of the historic places that remain in OC.

Visit the Ocean City Art League on 94th St.  See what local artists have produced and are making.

Nearby Berlin is full of history.  A beautiful town to visit and explore, filled with antique and curiosity shops. And visit the Calvin B. Taylor House Museum while you're there. http://taylorhousemuseum.org/

And stop at the Jeffrey Auxer Glass Studio and watch him craft his glass works of art. There is a gift shop there as well where you can pick up a large bowl or a small ornament for your tree or to hang in a window.

In Snow Hill, you can go to the Furnace Town Heritage Museum.  www.FurnaceTown.com and the Julia Purnell Museum  www.purnellmuseum.com.  Or the Mt. Zion One Room Country School on Ironshire and Church Streets.

Stop at the Convention Center and pick up brochures on these places and a Visitor Guide for more places of interest to visit.

Have a great time.

Yes, you now need a licese to Surf Fish in Maryland if you are over 16. You can find out more about licensing requirements here.

You can Surf Fish before 10am and after 5:30pm when the lifeguards are off duty (Technically you can actually surf fish anytime as long as you are 50 yards away from any swimmer, but this is essentially impossible to do when the lifeguards are on duty).

Have fun in OC!

When will we see less crowds in OC the weekend of Aug 15-16? Or maybe Aug 22-23?

We've been going the last week of August for a very long time and it's a wonderful time to go.  I would recommend the weekend of August 22 -23.  Parents will be busy getting their kids ready to go back to school then so beach time won't be their top priority.  Or even consider the following weekend. That's the last weekend before Labor Day and everything will still be open and running.

But whichever weekend you choose, have a great time!

Hi Elizabeth.

You'll find large blue boxes lining the beach that rent chairs and umbrellas. The cost of them are $8 a day or $40 a week for the chairs, and $10/day and $70 a week for umbrellas. The attendants will put them up and take them down for you each day.

You could buy inexpensive chairs and umbrellas at Sunsations, Wal Mart, or Roses for the same or less, and if you don't want to haul them home, leave them there for the next person before you leave the beach or put them into one of the beach trash barrels.
