I have rented a townhouse right on the beach around 51st Street and I was wondering if there is a service to rent umbrellas and beach chairs. When I was a child, my parents rented a condo and I remember guys sitting out on the beach that would offer this service and setup the umbrella and chairs for you every morning. I was wondering if this still exists, even if they are not sitting outside the townhouse that I will be renting.

Tina,

The pier rides, games and shops do close up after the Labor day weekend.

But in saying that, there are events schedule into November.  You'll find places open all year long

especially weekends, the boardwalk down by the inlet is still lively all year.

No. In fact  you are not allowed to grill anywhere in Ocean City including balconies.  The only grilling that is allowed is at Northside Park or if your condo building has a specified area for grilling and provides the grills. If you grill at Northside Park, you must use one of their grills (you cannot bring your own) and you are responsible for cleaning up and disposing of the COLD charcoal after you are done.

This might seem like an odd question, but I tend to use my Visa Check Card to pay for everything instead of cash. My family is going to Ocean City next week and I'm trying to get an idea of how much cash I should bring. So my question is do the shops etc. on the boardwalk usually take cards? I'm sure I could always find an ATM to withdraw cash if necessary, but want to avoid paying the ATM fees as much as possible.

Almost every place in OC takes credit and debit cards. I have a family of 6 and rarely spend ore than $200 in cash over 2 weeks in OC, and even when I do spend cash, I could usually have used credit. The only places I can think of where you need cash are  the arcades and some boardwalk carnival games.

No Betty, it's not illegal to feed the seagulls.  HOWEVER, use wise judgement as to what, when and where you're feeding them.  Frankly, while it's not illegal, we really shouldn't be feeding them for a multitude of reasons, one of which is that none of what we normally feed them is on their "natural" menu.  Use common sense if you're going to feed them....... a busy beach day, or a busy boardwalk is not the time to bring a flock of 100 or more birds around.... it could get messy, and you could upset a lot of people.

We are staying at oceanfront villas and need additional week-long parking. Can you recommend any places to park?

Bob,

You can park at either the lot on 100th St. (for a fee)  or find normal street parking along bay side north of 3rd street.

Yes, on a leash, but only between October 1 to April 30. Dogs are not allowed on the beach anytime of the day or night during the summer season. If you want to take your leashed dog to a beach I suggest Homer Gudelsky Park in West O. It is a bay beach and is located on Old Bridge Rd. off of Golf Course Rd.

Stephanie,The Boardwalk never closes down.... it's open year round.  You'll find that Ocean City enjoys a "second season", not an "off season".  While the outdoor rides & boardwalk tram is done after Sunfest, most businesses (store merchants, restaurants, etc) stay open year round now........ they do limit their hours, and more of them seem to open especially on the weekends when the weather is nice, still... you'll find that the boardwalk is up and running year round!!!!

We're staying at the Golden Sands. Are there gyms nearby you'd recommend?
