I don't believe there is any such law. It would most likely be in the individual building by laws as to what the condo association requires.  And each one is different.  Check with the association at the building you are looking at.

Why is The Bedtime Inn in Ocean City closed for the season?

The Bedtime Inn was sold and is in the process of being torn down for a new Microtel Inn and Suites.  But as of Saturday, the entire back part of the hotel was still there, so I would say it's going to be quite a while until something new goes in there.  In the meantime, the Holiday Inn Express, the Francis Scott Key Hotel, and the Comfort Suites are all right along there if you like that area.

Are the boardwalk shops open May 24 onward or just Memorial Day Weekend onward?

All of the boardwalk shops are open now. Many are open year round on weekends and through the spring and fall seven days a week.

We have a son with Down Syndrome and will be in Ocean City at the end of August for a week. I wanted to hire somebody to watch him and his little brother for a couple of evenings and possibly for a few hours some days. Can anybody recommend an agency that I can contact about this?

Hi Chiara,

I know people have used care.com and sittercity.com to find a sitter.  I do not know of any local agencies that have sitters available.  I would try both of these sites.  My fellow Insiders may have some other good ideas as well.

You have two options - the two closest major airports are BWI and Philadelphia.  You can also fly USAir to Salisbury Airport.  The Bayrunner shuttle, http://www.bayrunnershuttle.com, can get you from both BWI and Salisbury to the West Ocean City Park and Ride which is 5 minutes from downtown OC.

There are still lots of web cams around OC, although the ones run by the city seem to be operating less dependably. Here are a few of my favorits:

The Town of Ocean City is regularly updating their publicly accessible webcams. Here is the tourism webcam.

Boardwalk Cam - Great view of the boardwalk at Marty's Playland. This camera is very dependable. I've been viewing it for over 15 years!

Park Place Cam on the boardwalk at 2nd Street

Kiteloft Cam at 5th Street

OCMotels Cam - View of the boardwalk and beach from the top of the Spinnaker at 17th Street

Harrison's OC Hotels Cams - At the Plim Plaza at 2nd Street, the inlet on Harrison's Harbor Watch, and the inlet at the Oceanic Motel. You can control these cameras a bit too!

Castle in the Sands Cam - Great view of the beach at 37th Street

Castle in the Sand Surf Cam

Midtown Surf Cam - Great view of the surf. I think this one is around 50th Street

Sunset Marina Fish Cams in west OC

Hey fellow Jerseyan! The tram on the boardwalk starts running Memorial Day weekend, and then really gets going full time around the middle of June. And in case you need another option to get around OC, I would suggest the bus which runs 24 hours. It is very convenient and for $3 you can't beat that you can ride it all day and all night until 6am the following day. For more information visit: http://www.ococean.com and click on getting around OC.

Is there anyone available (hotel staff, beach lifeguards) who can help me transfer my boyfriend to beach wheelchair? He is a quadriplegic and I would need assistance with this. Thanks!

great question! I personally would call the hotel directly and tell them your situation and see how helpful they may be. Ask for the supervisor of customer service right away or the manager. I know the lifeguards would not be able to assist for they will be doing other duties.

Good luck.... Everyone deserves to enjoy the beach!

I'm just wondering what some of the more popular mixed drinks or frozen drinks they serve in bars on the boardwalk are? I already know about the orange crush, and would like to try something different next time I go.

My favorite drink is a grapefruit crush and a watermelon crush - both available at the Lazy Lizard and BJ's.  BJ's also has some wild drinks at their back bar - crab and oyster shooters come to mind.  Seacrets sells a variety of frozen drinks to try - they are pictured above.  Tequila Mockingbird and Guidos Burritos sell a big ass margarita - 64 ounces of pure fun (take the bus home of get a designated driver!).

What happened to my calendar this year? I didn't get one and thought it was so convenient to see what was upcoming and to see if I could go to the beach that weekend. Were they sent out this year, and who do I contact about getting one?

Calendars were mailed out to residents a month or so ago. Your best bet is to call the Visitors Center at 800.626.2326  and see if they can send you one.
