The beach and Boardwalk are what I think matters most for one day. I would try and eat somewhere overlooking the ocean as well. Next time, come back and stay for several days. It is hard to really enjoy all there is to do in just one day.
I am sitting next to my 7 year old son and he will be helping me with this question.
1. Sitting on the beach watching the waves crash onto the sand gathering seashells as they wash up on the shore. Make a large sandcastle and after all of your building is done, jump into the ocean to cool off. After drying off, be sure to walk on the boardwalk. Some of the things not to miss on the boardwalk are:
1. The Ocean Gallery
2. The sand sculptures in front of the Plim Plaza.
3. The Kite Loft
4. The various magic acts and shows performed by street entertainers on the boardwalk,
5. Trimpers Rides
6. Arcades. Be sure to play the games where you score tickets and than you can trade in for prizes.
7. Jolly Rogers on the pier. Be sure to ride the ferris wheel. You will have a great view of Ocean City from the top of the ferris wheel.
8. Keep walking out to the end of the fishing pier to have another great view of Ocean City.
9. Continue to the end of the boardwalk and stop at Harrisons Harbor Watch for a nice lunch or dinner.
10. Some other great snacks and food ro enjoy on the boardwalk: Thrashers French Fries, Dumsers Dairyland ice cream, Fishers Caramel Popcorn(take some home), Candy Kitchen Taffy (Take some home), and a slice of Tony's Pizza.
At the end of the day, stop off at one of the Old Pro golf courses and play a round of mini golf.
Be sure to grab a Sunny Day Guide or other coupon booklet to get some great coupons or other ideas for some great things to do.
One day in OC?...... Let's see..... I'd probably walk the boardwalk and hang out there for a while. I'd sit at the Inlet and watch the water..... and then, I'd head to Seacrets and hang out there the rest of the day.
The first things you are going to come across are the Life Saving Museum (which I highly reccommend) and the pier rides and shops. You'll find several good restaurants here too. Harrison's Harbor Watch is directly across from the museum and a very good place for lunch or dinner. Walking north on the boardwalk you need to sample some Thrasher's french fries! I like them with salt and vinegar. Yummy and an OC must have. You'll also see the OC tram station. I believe it starts running at 10 a.m. For $3.00 you can ride the length of the boardwalk, or you can purchase an unlimited ride pass for $6.00 and ride as much as you like between 11a.m. and 4p.m. The boardwalk itself is 3 miles long, so it is a hike if you wish to see it all. Or you could rent a bicycle or surrey from one of the vendors, but they are only allowed on the boards early in the morning.
There are a lot of great little and unique shops on the boards. Stop at the Kite Loft and pick up a pretty little kite to fly on the beach. And speaking of the beach, enjoy the ocean! You can rent an umbrella and chairs from any of the blue box stands that line the beach. They'll even put them up for you.
If you are looking for coupons and more info on OC, check out the Sunny Day Guide. You can find them all over Ocean City or online at www.sunnydayguide.com
Be sure to check out the antique carousel at Trimper's Pier Rides or stop at Shenanigan's for some great steamed shrimp and beer. One day just isn't enough time in OC, but you'll enjoy it enough to come back. Oh, and pick up a tub of Fisher's carmelcorn on your way back to your car... to eat on your way home.
Have a great time!
Janu,
One day, well definitely want to visit the boardwalk. Easiest way is to park at the inlet (paid parking) and walk from the inlet. If you arrive early in the morning, you can rent a bike which provides an excellent way to see all the boards have to offer.
Secondly, the beach. By far one of our favorite beaches. Great waves, sand is great for sand castle building. Kites...perfect for the beach. Not to misss.
Restaurants -
*FishTales, great bayfront location. Food and prices are wonderful.
*Brass Balls, on the boardwalk with great food, and not to miss scenery.
Shops - Sunsations, perfect for taking home that special souvenier.
Boats - visit the Bahia Marina as you enjoy lunch or dinner at FishTales. Learn about the fishing and marine life. If you have time, take a boat ride on Assateague Adventure or OC Rocket. Perfect memory maker!
Then, if you change your mind and stay over, don't miss the fireworks and show at the Inlet and Northside Park on Sunday!
Have a great visit to our family's favorite vacation destination!
Anna G.
