Are dogs allowed on the boardwalk and beach ever? or is there only a time/season thing?
Pets are only allowed on the boardwalk and beach (on a leash) between October 1st and April 30th. The federal side of Assateague Island allows leashed pets all year.

I have seen people get tickets for having their dogs on the beach during the summer. You can take your dog for a swim in the bay and there are lots of access points for that - Northside Park being a frequent place. The only issue is that jellyfish are abundant this time of year.Â

Bringing your four-legged friend? It's important to note that animals are only allowed on the beach and boardwalk between October 1 and April 30. Any handler or owner of a dog must remove any waste deposited on public or private property not owned by the handler or owner in possession of said dog. Also, dogs must be kept on a leash when being walked in and around Ocean City.
