When are the busiest and least busiest times of the year for Ocean City.

Kate,

I would definitely say late July to mid-August are the busiest times of the year, simply because of summer vacations.  With that said we have been in OC for Thanksgiving, NYE, St. Patrick's Day and several other Fall/Winter months and have experienced heavy crowds at certain locations.

Least busiest, fall and winter weekends in which there are no special events.  But OC is definitely becoming a year-round resort, which is great for our area.
Thank you,
Anna G.

Hi Kate,
May and June are busy, but July and especially August are very busy up till Labor Day. Then the city starts to unwind again.  The least busy times would be January through April.

Kate,
I have had it explained to me this way (and these numbers may not be exact, but close enough): from Memorial Day to Labor Ocean City is the third largest city in Maryland, from Labor Day to Memorial Day it is the 28th largest city.  Since the number of year round residents is constant but growing, the only influx would be tourism.  And as was mentioned above, that grows mainly with events.

From my experience, the busiest times in Ocean City is June Bug week (when the seniors graduate and this also sometimes coinsides when the firemans convention happens too, 4th of July weekend, and the 1st three weeks of August.  For some reason, July is much less crowded.  The 4th week of August is also slower as many schools are back in session.  September is still warm and many things in Ocean City are still open although the crowds have really died down.  The same goes in October, although, it is cooler and there are more boardwalk shops closed.  Of course November through April is not busy but there is not much beach and dipping in the ocean weather either during those months.

Kate,

The businest times of the year in Ocean City would be late May through early September (Labor Day and Sunfest).... after that, the crowds die down from mid September through late May..... Ocean City is still open for business during this less busy time period.... you'll find that most businesses, restaurants and shops are open all year round, usually on a weekends only schedule.
