Dogs are allowed on the beach and boardwalk with their owners and on a leash from October 1st to April 30th.
If you are in Ocean City in Septemebr and want your dog to experience the beach, the federal side of Assateague Island allows dogs on a leash year round.

Your question as to when has been answered. I would like to remind you of one thing: Please carry a bag or two with you, so you can clean up after your pet. As a pet owner, I do it too, and I would like to think that others should as well. Our boardwak and beach are beautiful, and lets keep it that way.

Bringing your four-legged friend? It's important to note that animals are only allowed on the beach and boardwalk between October 1 and April 30. Any handler or owner of a dog must remove any waste deposited on public or private property not owned by the handler or owner in possession of said dog. Also, dogs must be kept on a leash when being walked in and around Ocean City.
During peak-season and year-round, a Dog Playground is available at 94th Street and bayside so your pet can let loose and enjoy their time in Ocean City. For more information, contact OC Recreation & Parks at 410-250-0125 or click here.

And if you are caught with a dog on the beach during other times, there is a pretty hefty fine. I saw several people fined this summer.

Hi Ammie,
Here's the policy for dogs: Dogs are allowed on the beach and boardwalk between October 1 and April 30. You must remove all waste. All dogs must be kept on a leash. There is a dog playground during peak season on 94th Street and Bayside, so your dog can be loose and such. If you want a place to stay that is great with dogs, the Clarion is the best. They are awesome when it comes to dogs.
