I bring my kids down year round.
We play indoor mini golf, collect sea shells, shop, eat, swim in the indoor pools, and much much more.

Kathy, I too, am ready for a road trip to send off cabin fever!  Although Fish Tales and de LAzy Lizard have play areas for kids, my husband and I learned that the play area at Fish Tales was closed until later in the season a few years ago when we went there expecitng to be able to burn off some toddler energy there.  It is still a neat place to eat, with meals being served on frisbees and lots of neat things to see.  Also Dumser's Dairyland is a great place for ice cream and my five year old enjoyed the Lifesaving Museum.  She was really impressed with the shark's teeth and aquariums they have set up.  If you do go there, you may want to drop by Harrison's Harborwatch for lunch or dinner and enjoy the fabulous views of the inlet from the warmth of the restaurant.  There is also Planet Maze and indoor golf as well as outlet stores and the Gold Coast Mall if your kids are shoppers.  I have also found that my kiddos enjoy just digging in the sand no matter how cold it is.  We have to reiterate several times when it is cold out that the shoes must stay on the fett, lol!

Kathy,
Stay at a hotel with a large indoor pool, like the Princess Royale, Hilton, or Holiday Inn and you are set!

You can take along a bucket or a sand pail and find LOTS more seashells on the beach than in the summer.  And the Life Saving Museum is open on the weekends.  Plus you can take a ride to Assateague and see the wild ponies. Or rent a surrey or bicycles and ride the boardwalk.

Kathy,
A day walking the boardwalk and hitting the shops, arcades and some mini golf is a good day. OC convention center has a boat show 18-20 if your interested.
