Ask a Question
We typically visit the beach for days at a time, but this year we are going down for a day trip. My question, is there all day parking available? I have seen the parking for 2.50/hr, for up to 12 hours, .50/12min after. Is there any other parking in close proximity to the boardwalk? Thank you!

You can find free parking by the boardwalk, especially if you look on the bayside and are willing to walk a few blocks.  If is more plentiful now than during the summer season because the crowds have diminished.

If you park bayside on the back streets pay attention to whether the curb is painted or not.  If it's painted red.......don't park there because you'll be ticketed or towed.  Be aware of the signs on the street.  If you find a spot without paint on the curb, and no signs limiting parking, then you're in luck and you can park as long as you want.

You can also avoid a lot of stress by parking at the West Ocean City Park and Ride lot in West Ocean City. It's only $1.00 to park your car and ride the shuttle to the beach. Here's the info on Park and Ride.  http://oceancitymd.gov/Public_Works/inlet_parking.html

Free Parking Choices:

You may park for free at the park and ride just outside of Ocean City and take a shuttle in.

You can park at the convention center for free on 40th St and ride the bus around.

Or you can park on the many non metered side streets for free.

I would park down at the inlet if i were you. It's the easiest way or if you don't want to do that then there is the west ocean city park and ride.

You could always park at the Convention Center on 40th and take the bus to the boardwalk, it's a free lot and the bus stop is right there.

There is also a park n ride in West OC right before you cross the bridge.

If you can get there early enough you can always park on St Louis Avenue on the street.  It's not metered and just a short walk to the boards.

The Inlet Parking lot is the easiest and most convenient choice - southern most end of Coastal Highway.  There are several public lots from Somerset to 4th Street - these are right off Coastal Highway.   There is free parking on many side streets near the Boardwalk as well.  This will put you about 4 blocks from the beach.

As Karl mentioned there is plenty of free parking downtown especially on the bayside. It is only about a three or four block walk to the beach. An option is to park at the head of the street on the beachside and unload QUICKLY and then one person from your party can find a parking spot.  DO be sure not to block the handicap spots!

There are lots of parking lots close to the boardwalk. The inlet lot is right near the boardwalk and beach. If you park at the other public lots parking is $1/hour for up to 12 hours. There are several lots near the beach and boardwalk, you can get a complete list here (scroll to bottom of this page for list). If you go north of about 5th Street you can park on many side streets for free all day.

Have a great trip!
