I heard that many of the businesses at the Boardwalk are closed during the "off season". I am considering a vacation in late March. Will there be open restaurants, etc. to enjoy? Also, while there, I would like to visit Washington DC for a day trip. Are there any organized bus tours that I could sign up for ahead of time?

Ocean City is 10 miles long and the boardwalk only takes up 2.5 miles of the beach side of it.  So you will have no problem whatsoever finding bars and restaurants open all over town and in West Ocean City as well.  And you can shop, play mini golf indoors at 68th and 136th St, play laser tag, go ice skating, go to movies, and just plain explore! We have museums and a library as well!
As for bus tours, Greyhound does come to Ocean City, but you would have to check their schedules for any busses that would run for just one day.

You will find about many places open in March. We come down the last weekend in March each year and the City is alive if the weather is nice. As to a day trip to DC; it is a 3.5 hour drive to the monuments/city center. It would make for a long day with about 7 hours driving time. Greyhound is your only bus option and that would not leave any time to explore the city.

Yes hello. Ocean City,MD is now a year round family resort. There will be restaurants open and some of the shops will be open weather permitting. I saw in their Facebook pages some opened today at 11am because the weather is so nice.A lot of nice eateries are opened now. I hope you enjoy your stay in OCMD.

We visit OC every St. Patrick's weekend and there are always places open on the boards (weather permitting).  Some will only be open on the weekend, but most will offer great specials.

Restaurants - you will not have any problems finding a great restaurant.  Try La Hacienda, Seacrets, Greene Turtle, or Buxy's Salty Dog (a few of our favorites).

Bus Trips - contact the Ocean City Parks & Recreation Department to see if they have any planned.  However Washington would be just a short 3 hour drive.  You could leave early in the morning, tour some of the highlights, and be back in OC for the evening.

Have a great spring trip to OC!
