Hi there. We are planning a trip to OC for Thanksgiving this year. Can you tell me please if things are generally open or closed at that time of year? I'm concerned about dining, amusements, shopping, etc. Thanks!
There are plenty of things open for Thanksgiving week, but no rides. The outlet stores will be open, indoor mini golf on 68th and 136th St., ice skating at the Carousel Hotel, laser tag at Planet Maze, and the indoor rides at Trimpers on the boardwalk for the little ones will be open as well. The Christmas Spirit store will be open, and several shops like Snapdragon in West Ocean City will be open too. Depending on the weather, Thrashers French Fries and Fisher's Popcorn will be open, and you'll have no problem finding restaurants like Bonfire, Captain's Table, Shark on the Harbor, and Harrison's Harbor Watch will all be open. Have a great time.

We are down every year around Thanksgiving. You will have plenty to do! About half the restaurants are open and there are several good places for Thanksgiving dinner. We found several Boardwalk stores open on the weekend after Thanksgiving.

We love to come to OC for Thanksgiving! Many of the boardwalk shops will be open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Most will close at 5 pm. Don't forget to do some shopping at the Outlet Mall in West OC! The Assateague Island Visitor Center will be closed on Thanksgiving but open Friday and the weekend. It is a beautiful facility and very informative. Take a ride around the island loop road and look for the famous wild ponies! One of our favorite places to enjoy a Thanksgiving buffet with all of the trimmings is at the Clarion on 101st St.

I have been in OC for Thanksgiving for the past several years. We
usually arrive late Tuesday (too late for Dinner) and stay until Late
Saturday evening or Sunday morning. We always find plenty to do. We have
4 kids ages 9 to 16.
Some things we do:
1. Go bowling on 72nd Street
2. Go to a movie in OC (or Salisbury)
3. Walk on the beach and boardwalk. We always do this, but usually in November it is still nice enough to spend a fair amount of time outside.
4. One year it was warm enough for my kids to go in the Ocean!
5. Go to the Winterfest of lights. We get there near the end of the time they are open on Thursday or Friday. If you get there the first hour or so the line gets long
6. Eat at some of our favorite places. Here are a just of few of the many that that are open: Lombardis, Harborside, Captains Galley, Harborwatch (sometimes closed), Phillips, Victoria Room at Dunes Manor, BJs, Harpoon Hannas, Marina Deck in Ocean Pines. Many resteraunts have traditional Thanksgiving meals or buffets on the holiday.
7. Enjoy the shops on the Boardwalk and at the outlets. Usually lots of great bargains and most of them are open on Friday and Saturday.
8. If the weather is decent most boardwalk shops will be open on the weekend and may on Friday too. Thrashers Fries, Fisher's Popcorn, Marty's Playland, Dumser's Dairyland, Ocean Gallery, and plenty of shops are all generally open Thanksgiving weekend.
Have a great Thanksgiving in OC! Maybe I'll see you there!

Our family LOVES spending Thanksgiving in Ocean City. We normally have dinner on our way to OC, however many restaurants offer great Thanksgiving dinner specials.
You will see many boardwalk and other restaurants, shops, and attractions open on Friday - Sunday. Plus, you won't want to miss the Winterfest of Lights at Northside Park, great way to get you into the holiday spirit.
Friday - Sun there is also a Holiday Craft/Gift Show that we always go to at the Convention Center. I love getting new craft ideas or gifts for those people that have everything.
No need to be concerned, tons to do, see, and places to eat. Definitely not a shortage :-)
Thank you,
Anna G.
