Get Answers from the OC Insiders
I am planning a trip to Ocean City, MD this summer. I own a jet ski and would love to bring it down with me during my stay. My questions are, how friendly is the city to bring in jet skis? Are there boat ramps for public use (pay per use or free)? Is there any place that will store it for me for a couple of days or will I have to risk leaving it at my hotel?
Note: this will be my second trip down to Ocean City, MD. During my first time down there, I rented a jet ski (had never been on one before) and loved it. When I got back to New York, I bought one...
The city is friendly for using jet skis, but less freindly for parking them. Here is a list of boat ramps in or near OC (I belive they are all free):
- Assateague Island Park, Rt. 611 at Assateague Island Bridge
- Gum Point Road off Rt. 589, West Ocean City
- OC Commercial Harbor, 12806 Sunset Ave., West Ocean City (rebuilt last summer)
- Little Salisbury Boat Ramp on 87th Street in OC (8am to 6pm - very limited parking)
- At South Point at the South End of South Point Road (south of the Assateague bridge)
You cannot park your trailer on a public street or in most public parking lots. Check with where you are staying to see if you can park in their lot. There is trailer parking available for trailers at the 100th Street Parking lot for $10 a day.
You can check with some of the marinas and see if they will store it for you or rent you a space for the week. I believe Advanced Marine (866.577.3449) on 67th Street offers this service.

Oh, nothing is more exciting than being on a jet ski!!
The following are locations of boat ramps in OC; but I am not sure if jet skis can be docked here as well. One thing you may want to consider is renting a house on bayside with watercraft parking.

All I could say has already been posted. OCMD is jet ski friendly, but is starved for public access to the water..... so be very careful where you choose to put in, and make sure that you read every posted sign regarding parking. If I were you, I'd choose from the 4 slips mentioned, make sure your hotel will accommodate you trailering, and then figure out where you hotel is vs. where the closest public slip sits...... that'll take any potential headaches out of the equasion.

One note of caution. The jetski rules in Delaware have changed over the last several years and it is very easy to get a ticket for a variety of minor infractions - some are not even common sense. I highly recommend staying in Maryland waters and not crossing into Delaware.

Dana's suggestion of Bradley's on the Bay is a great one. Two parking spots with a ramp is the best way to make sure you have everything you need. Plus it is easy to get to Seacrets on your jet ski that way!
