Well, I did some math using the Cape May-Lewes Ferry as a reference.  It takes the Ferry approximately 80 minutes to travel 17 miles.  So, by sea Virginia Beach is approximately 100 miles from Ocean City...... So, you divide 100 by 17 = 5.88 which essentially is your units of miles.  Then, you take 5.88 times 80 = 470.4 minutes, which in hours is 7.84 hours (or 8 hours/24 minutes)  That's how I did the calculation.  Wasn't able to find any nautical mile converters or nautical mile maps online.  Nautical miles are longer than land miles, so I'm hoping this is close.

All answers are pretty much on with the time.  I know it takes 3 hours to reach the Norfolk Canyon for fishing.  If you wish to break up your trip, you could stop at Wachapreague, VA for a rest and fuel or even Chincoteague for that fact.

This is also going to vary by sea conditions.  Running at speed over long distances of ocean is tough.  I would allow 10 hours for the trip in mild seas.  I would also suggest you have a boat capable of handling the ocean - deep hull, good radio, charts and good horsepower.  Running in the ocean is something to be taken seriously.

Well, it depends on the size and speed of you boat.

It is about 130 miles between the two cities.

If you go in the Atlantic Ocean, you can travel at a faster pace and probably make it in about 6 to 10 hours. Of course you need a boat that can travel in open ocean, even along the shoreline. Be aware that there are few, perhaps no, commercial areas to dock between Virginia Beach and the Chincoteague area. If you take the back bays it will take you longer and you will need to know how to navigate the channels carefully as they are narrow in some areas and may not be well marked.

OCI Colleen has lots of boating experience and can likely give you a better answer.
