Is the boardwalk up and running fully the end of march for Easter weekend?

I am often in OC the week before Easter and expect to be there this year then too. Assuming the weather is nice, about half or more of of the boardwalk stores will be open Easter weekend. Boardwalk favorites Thrasher's Fries, Dumser's ice cream, Fisher's popcorn (my favorite!), Candy Kitchen , and Marty's Playland. are almost always open on the weekends.

Have a great Easter Weekend!

Is the city fully rebuild and is it ready for this summer?

Ocean City will be open and ready for this summer with no evidence that a storm was there - it is already mostly recovered!

While Sandy had a significant effect on OC, most of the damage was on the bay side. I have been there since the storm, and there is very little evidence of its destruction left. Thre is soem beach erosion, but no more than happens most years, and most of the bayside businesses that were damaged are repaired or under repair. Repairs are also underway already to the Ocean Pier.

You can look forward to a great summer in OC in 2013!

Are there any motorcoach companies or tour operators that provide regular service to Ocean City? If so, who are they and where do they originate?

There are some local tours that run out of nearby cities including Baltimore and Philadelphia. These tours do not have a fixed schedule, but are for specific events. One such place is Kline Tours. They run tours from Hagerstown and Fredrick, MD.

That's a great time to be in Ocean City. That's Cruisin' OC weekend and there will be thousands of fabulous cars in town with car shows at the inlet and the Convention Center, and the cars parade down the boardwalk to the inlet Thursday,Friday, Saturday mornings.
I suggest you make your hotel reservations very soon because the hotels sell out quickly for this event.  www.specialeventpro.com/cruisin
Nearly every store and restaurant will be open.  The pier games may not be open yet, but Marty's Playland and the Haunted House will be. Sometimes the boardwalk rides are open if the weather is good.  Thrasher's Fries, Fisher's Popcorn, Dolles and Candy Kitchen...........all will be open.
As for Sandy damage...........forget it. Not an issue.

I am a college student hoping to live/work in Ocean City this summer with one roommate. What resources are available to help me find a job and place to live (with reasonable season rate)?

Seasonal housing is available, but can be expensive.

First, check with any of your prospective employers. Some employers have housing available, usually for a reasonable price, and others have connections to help their workers find housing.

Many people I know have used either Craigslist or similar to do this. Some other possible sources of connections to both properties and roommates are:
(1) Work with your employer to contact other employees for roommates or to see if they have leads on housing.
(2) Work with the Chamber of Commerce - They have job listings and are holding a large Job Fair at the end of March - Find out more about it here.
(3) connecting with the International Student Center - They help lots of international students find jobs and housing in OC and likely can help you too. You can reach them at 410.289.0350.
(4) Check with nearby colleges to see if they have any leads.
(5) Watch the classified sections of  Maryland Coast Dispatch and Ocean City Today. Both of these have jobs and seasonal hosing listings.

Good Luck in your search. Have a great summer in OC!

How long does it take to get to ocean city from Virginia beach by boat.

Well, I did some math using the Cape May-Lewes Ferry as a reference.  It takes the Ferry approximately 80 minutes to travel 17 miles.  So, by sea Virginia Beach is approximately 100 miles from Ocean City...... So, you divide 100 by 17 = 5.88 which essentially is your units of miles.  Then, you take 5.88 times 80 = 470.4 minutes, which in hours is 7.84 hours (or 8 hours/24 minutes)  That's how I did the calculation.  Wasn't able to find any nautical mile converters or nautical mile maps online.  Nautical miles are longer than land miles, so I'm hoping this is close.

I am planning a vacation to Ocean City, MD. for June 2013. Was there a few yrs ago and loved it. I was wondering how much damaged Hurricane Sandy did and how it looks now? Can I still vacation there so soon?

I have been to OC since the Sandy. I was all over town and saw no evidence of the storm other than some beach erosion. This erosion was no worse than I have seen in other years and I expect the beach to be fully recovered by Spring. Some bayfront businesses are still dealing with some issues, but most of these businesses are closed in the off season and have plenty of time to deal with repairs.

To see some amazing pictures of Sandy hitting OC look here.

OC avoided most of Sandy's damage and is back up and running just fine!

If I just want to use the beach to get married on and have a few candles and less than ten people do I need a permit or anything to do this? It would be to renew my vows?

Hi. I didn't know the right answer to this question so I called City Hall. Their answer is that if you are renewing your vows and it's during the summer, then they would like you to fill out a simple form so they can alert the beach patrol and police that you have permission to do this.

If it is during the off season (before Memorial Day and after Labor Day) then the form is not necessary.

You can email Jenny Morris at City Hall and she will email the form to you , fill it out and email it back to her. Her email is jmorris@oceancitymd.gov"> jmorris@oceancitymd.gov
As for the candles, she said that's fine.

The boardwalk tram (or trolley) runs during Springfest weekend in May, then not again until Memorial Day weekend. It runs all summer up to and including Labor Day, then only runs again during Sunfest.

Tram fare is $3 per person, per boarding, one way ride. Discount fare punch cards are available at $20 for 8 rides. Inquire at either tram station or with a tram conductor.

New unlimited ride pass, which costs $6, a passenger can now get on and off the Boardwalk tram as much as they like between the hours of 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. The unlimited ride pass is only valid on the day of purchase and is not available during Holidays, Holiday Weekends or Special Events. Unlimited ride passes are sold at both north and south tram ticket booths and on any tram.

Please note: The tram operation is subject to prevailing weather conditions. See the station operators or call 410-289-5311 or 410-723-1606 for further information.
