Ask a Question
Hello, my wife & I are making our 1st trip to OC in 2 weeks. We're staying at the Spinnaker and can't wait. My question is about restaurants near the motel. What restaurants are within walking distance? We're from NYC so walking 10 blocks to us is nothing. I know the Captains Table is near there and of course there's a restaurant in the motel itself but what others are nearby within I'd say a 10 block radius? Also, is there a crab shack type place nearby? My wife is big on whole crabs so I want to take her to the best one in OC. If there isn't one near the hotel, what would you recommend? We have a car so I don't mind driving. Thank you.

You should check out Ocean City's best crabcakes at Coins on 28th St.

I would like to bring my dog with me to the beach. Is the beach pet friendly? She is a small dog.

I too would have to concur with Darlene and Colleen...I am a dog lover as well, but OC just is not a dog friendly place.  Even though there are hotels, they charge fees for pets and since they are not allowed on the beach would end up in the room most of the day.

Can I get a copy of the boardwalk map? I'd like to see what is on the boardwalk and how far away we are. We are staying at 11 134th Street, The Ocean Princess. We will be checking in on July 9th.

You are staying in what's called North Ocean City. The boardwalk is in South OC.  It begins at the inlet and extends for 2.5 miles to 27th St. So you are quite a distance from the boards.  But you can always take the public bus that runs every 15 minutes  for $3.00 a day/ride as much as you want.  Or you can pay $1.00 for one ride one way.  There is plenty of parking around the boardwalk though, including a large parking lot at the inlet.   If you are wanting to go to the games and rides on the boardwalk, try and park below 10th St. That's where the most activity is.
Where you're staying is a very nice, quiet area and very close to the Delaware/Fenwick border.  Have a great stay.

Where can I find the plans to build one of the reverseable benches on the boardwalk at Ocean City or can I buy one?

I would call the Department of Public Works - http://oceancitymd.gov/public_works/.  They are responsible for maintaining them and I thought they built them as well.

Are there any beach umbrella repair businesses(e.g. to fix the spokes and clips) in Ocean City, MD?

Unless it was a really expensive umbrella, I'd say pitch it and just buy a new one. I bought a really big one at Sam's Club years ago for around $20 and it still works great.

Does Ocean City still have a public bath house where you can take a shower? If so, where is it located? Thanks!

OC does not have places where you can clean up and take a shower, but here is a list of where all of the public restrooms are located.  I also wanted to note that changing clothes is not allowed in the bathrooms.

Is there a guide for 2011??

If you go to www.ococean.com you will find everything you need to know about planning an OC vacation including details about lodging, getting free certificates for dining, retail, and attractions if you book through that site, town ordinances, calendar of events, and planning tips.

Sunny Day offers a guide complete with coupons...you can check out the site www.sunndayguide.com for more information or wait until you get down to the beach and pick one up at your hotel.  Most businesses carry these guides as well.

Happy planning!

As long back as I can remember, it really dies down after school starts and you see more people without kids and parents with younger kids who are not in school.  If you like a quieter resort in the summertime, this is the time to visit Ocean City!

How long during the year do the trams run? Do they run the entire month of September?

If you are in Ocean City on the dates that the Trams are not in use, you can always use the bus which runs throughout the whole year.

Dogs locally are allowed at hotels and condos that have given prior approval like the Barefoot Mailman and Clarion Hotels and the city owned doggie park on 94th and Northside Park on 125th as shown in the pic below:
