I read that you can bike ride on the boardwalk between 2 AM and 11 AM, are you able to roller blade also at that time? Are there any parks that allow roller blading that are near 67th Street? I will be in Ocean City August 16 - August 25.

Northside Park is your best for rollerblading.  It is level, paved and car-free!

Almost every street has at least 2 handicapped spaces closest to the beach.  These are free to park in with an appropriate license plate or tag.

Can you bring a small cooler with drinks and sandwiches on the beach?

If you bring a cooler, bring an umbrella as well.  Put the cooler in the shade to keep the food cold.  It makes a big difference.

We are thinking of moving to OC this summer. I have been looking everywhere to try and find out more info on what it is like to live in OC year round. I have two preschool age children, ages 2 and 3 so I would also love to know how the preschools/ schools are? Good ones? Not so good ones? We would be living on the Bay right in OC (Bayshore drive area) if everything works out. Can anyone tell me what the people are like? Will I be the only person that lives in OC with little kids? :) My husband and I LOVE this area and we figured we should do the move before the girls are in school. Just want to make sure there will be things for them to do and ways for the girls and I to meet some new friends :) Any kids play groups? Would also appreciate pediatrician recommendations. Where do OC residents shop for groceries etc? I know nothing! LOL! :) Please feel free to give me ANY info you can. Pros and cons would be greatly appreciated!! :) Would love to also hear from people who made the plunge to move to OC and what their experiences have been. We currently live in Silver Spring Md. We want a change of life style that is better for ourselves and our kids. :) Thank you all in advance! :)

I unfortunately cannot personally assist you with this question, however there are other Insiders than can definitely.

My suggestion would be to contact one of the local realtors to obtain relocation and new buyer packages.  This will provide information on schools, hospitals, clinics, public facilities, taxes, etc.

The other suggestion is to get all the local papers (MD Coastal Dispatch, etc.) for past 6-8 months and read the articles referring to OC.  It will give you good idea as to weather, legal issues, political arena, etc.

Thank you,
Anna G.

I have been contacting hotels in reference to a wedding packages for a Saturday (5,12,19) in May 2012. I would ike your assistance in finding the best fit for what we are looking for. We plan to have 120 guests, including 8 children. Our desire is to have a ceremony on the beach that is followed by a reception at the hotel. So far we have contacted the Princess Hotels and the Holiday Inn Oceanfront. Our budget is in the range of 5000 to 8000 at this time. For our out of town guests we may need at least 10 to 12 hotel rooms. Please share this information with an event planner that can best assist us. Thank you in advance for your help.

I also recommend trying Lighthouse Sound in Ocean Pines.  They have an amazing venue and have meals for about $50 per person.  They also have an adjoining hotel.

You will have no trouble leaving your car at the convention center in most cases.  However, you will want to check in on your car from time to time if you decide the bus will be your main source of transportation.

Last seaon we brought a 12' x 12' tent and used it on the beach withno questions asked. We are hearing rumors that we can no longer use it. Is this true or a false statement. OC rocks.

I was just in OC two weeks ago and saw several canopy tents.  Since  have used one of these in the past, there are two things I have learned...stay behind the lifeguard chair as you will be asked to move if you are obstructing their view and don't put it up on a really windy day as the spokes inside will get destroyed.  Other than that, enjoy the shade!!  And I completely agree...OC does ROCK!!

The boardwalk in the morning will give you some great scenery, but bikes must be off by 11 am.  Northisde Park is another great place for biking trails and wonderful scenery to take in.

yes September and October are popular months in Ocean City, MD. The boardwalk shops are open year round now and yes they are open all September. Rides may only be open on weekends but there are several other events for children open during the week. Sunfest and Kitefest bring thousands to Ocean City,MD in Sep and many car shows as well. Most weekends in Sep and oct sell out fast so book a room and have a great time.
