I'm coming to stay in Ocean City with 2 kids,a husband, and a grandma. What are some fun places we can go, that can include grandma,(and not include her) that is close to The Capri where we are staying?

The Capri is one of my favorite places to stay and I have MANY fond memories as a child of just playing board games on their deck or condo baclony.  Some fun places to go that include grandma:  restaurants such as Nick's House of Ribs, ordering steamed crabs or subs from Leo's Seafood, Phillip's, Higgins Crab HOuse, or ice cream at Dumser's. There is a movie theater in northern OC and multiple places to play putt putt.  Just over the line into DE, there are outlet shops at Rehoboth.

Some things you may want to do without grandma:  Jolly Roger Amusement Park, boardwalk, Splash Mountain.  If you encounter a rainy day, Planet Maze is a great place to take the kids, but can be very noisy.

A lot really depends upon what grandma likes or is able to do.... I know of grandmothers that enjoy the things I listed as doing without....my mom for example loves the lazy river and the wave pool at Splash  Mountain.  Whatever you decide it is impossible to have a bad time when you have the sounds of the ocean nearby!

I know it may sound silly but is there a gym my husband and I could go to while vacationing in OC? I'm looking for something we could pay daily instead of getting a membership.

I also wanted to throw out another suggestion...Ayers Creek offers a tour on the nights when there is a full moon where you paddle out for an hour or so, then come back for a bonfire and wine and cheese tasting.  More info can be found at: http://ayerscreekadventures.com/EcoTours.html

Hello, I 'm planning a trip the first week in Aug what will the avg. temp be?

It is normally in the mid 80's to low 90's.  However in MD we have had some Augusts be in the 60's and rainy and have had temps in the upper 90's as well.  The best thing to do is to check www.weather.com and type in zip 21842 right before you pack to get a better feel for what to bring.

Can we just come to Ocean City for the weekend and have a minister marry us on the beach?

You would have to do some advance planning, but yes you can.  One of my favorite OC memories was witnessing a wedding while staying at the Golden Sands.  The ceremnoy took place on the beach and the reception was on the deck, so we got to enjoy listening to the music while on our balcony.

I have never been to Ocean City before and I don't know where to go or stay. What would you recommend for a first-timer?

Wow, can I just say you will have so much fun you will never want to leave!

Hotels - since it is your first visit, splurge a little.  Check out Holiday Inn Suites or Princess Royale or Tidelands Caribbean.  Don't forget to book through www.ocisfree.com and you may be eligible for FREE certificates to compliment your vacation plans.

Activities -
Take a tour on the Assateague Explorer.  You will learn about the history of OC as well as the Assateague Island and ponies.  Even get to have hands on experience with local habitants.

Try a round of mini-golf.  OC has many fabulous courses, all fun, challenging, and located all over the town for easy access.

Bike the boards and take in all the shops, restaurants, bars, games, etc.  It's only permitted at certain times of the day during summer, so check the schedules.

Restaurants -
Do not miss a visit to FishTales, Hooter's, Phillips, On the Bay, Greene Turtle, Hooper's, actually try as many of the great restaurants as you can!

Bars -
A few of our favorites, Bearded Clam, Seacrets, Greene Turtle, FishTales, Pirate's Den, Sand Bar.

Have a wonderful first visit and please let us know your thoughts!
