My friend had a leg operation and can not ride a bicycle. He will be visiting the beach in late July and wants to rent a hand cycle. Can this be done in the OC area? Thanks.

Jim,

Try Wobbly Wheels on 1st Street ((410) 289-2453) or Mike's Bikes on North Division Street (410-289-5404).

We're staying at the Commander Hotel for 3 days in the last week of August. Are there arcade game establishments within walking distance of our hotel? The 9 year-old was putting up respectable Centipede scores back when he was 4 and his dad has phenomenal Galaga and pinball skills :-) Thank you!

Hi Celina,

Except for some small arcade rooms in the hotels, your closest arcades are a short ride on the southern end of the boardwalk tram where you will find Marty's Playland, Sportland, and Fun City.  Also up on 33rd St is a place called Planet Maze with many arcade games and other activities.

I've been looking for a tide chart for the bay, and in particular Northside Park. I can't find one anywhere! I'll be fishing/crabbing there quite a bit this summer and want to plan early exactly which days will work out best. Thank you!

Ben,

Here's the website we utilize (http://www.co-ops.nos.noaa.gov/tides08/).  However, it's not specific to Northside Park.

Another which may be useful (http://www.dnr.state.md.us/fisheries/tides/index.asp).

These are the only two that were for areas other than OC Fishing Pier.

Thank you,

Do you have cheap Uglydolls anywhere in Ocean City?

I will have to be honest with you.  I have two kids and never heard about these ugly dolls.  I know you can find the other hot item in OC...Silly Bandz.

I will keep my eye out for these dolls and report back if I see them.

Coming in from Pittsburgh on a Sunday. Should be arriving in OC around 1 or 2 pm. Are there traffic suggestions around that time of day?

Lou,

Should not experience a high volume of traffic as many vacationers will arrive on Saturday.

We are going in a couple of weeks with the family. Does OC have regular/ weekly firework displays other than July 4th? Where is the best place to see them.

The only fireworks the town sponsors are for 4th of July.

However, Seacrets at 49th Street sometimes has fireworks. You can see them from anywhere along Coastal Highway on the bayside ion this area of town. You can see the schedule here http://seacrets.com/fireworks/

Hi, my family and I will be in Ocean City next week and it is our first time there. So excited. Our son turns 5 while we are there and I want to know of some great places that do special things for birthdays or just some great places in general to take him for his milestone birthday! Thank you!

Hi Erin,
Happy birthday to your little guy!  This is a milestone for sure!
How about a birthday party where he and his guests can all decorate their own cupcakes?  Smith Island Cake Company in the Ocean City Outlets has birthday party packages available that include your guests all getting to decorate 2 cupcakes each, your birthday boy can make a cake with the pastry chef, and they provide balloons and drinks and decorations, plus they have face painting available.
http://www.originalsmithislandcakeco.com/smith-island-cakes-birthday-parties

Or how about a boat ride on a pirate ship?  Head over to the Talbot Street Pier and ride on the Duckaneer.  It's a pirate ship that provides eye patches, face painting and even treasure!  Here's a coupon :   www.theduckaneer.com

Jolly Roger Amusements and water park............www.jollyrogerpark.com
Here's a bunch of coupons for there too........   http://www.jollyrogerpark.com/specials_coupons.php

Does he like ice skating? Take him to the Carousel hotel on 117th St.  Public skating and skates available to rent, plus they have aids to use for novice skaters.

Trimper's rides on the boardwalk is a great place to spend his birthday too. They have rides for all ages.
I hope he has a wonderful day .

I'm coming to Ocean City from Philadelphia this Friday afternoon and staying until Monday. I can't leave any earlier than 3PM on Friday. I'd like to minimize the time I spend in traffic, especially with such a short stay. Would I avoid enough traffic to make it worth it? For me, avoiding an hour or more of traffic would be worth the fare.

Josh,

The great thing about coming on Friday, and not leaving til after 3pm is you will beat the Friday-Friday renters because their checkin is 1-4pm.  The traffic should not be extremely congested,

Is it worth the ride, that's a personal decision, but for me any trip to OC is worthwhile to me.  Enjoy your mini-vacation!

I bought two 50cc motor scooters for my children, and supposedly they are under the requirements to be a motor vehicle, so they are just considered a scooter with a motor, and you are allowed to ride them on the bus lane without a license. Is this true? Thanks!

Nick,

The Maryland law regarding motor scooters is operators must have a drivers license of some sort from their state. However, for specific information on Maryland's law, please visit http://www.mva.maryland.gov/Vehicle-Services/REG/scooter.htm.

In addition, I recommend helmets just as an extra safety precaution.

Thank you,
