When does the boardwalk close for the season? I'd like to plan an end of summer vacation there for my birthday (Sept.11th) but want to make sure the shops on the boardwalk will still be open.. Thanks!
Many stores, restuarants, and arcades are still open that time of year, but not as long into the night as you would find in the summer. Rides may be open as well if the weather is cooperative. You will still find lots of things to do in OC that time of year because OC is becoming a year round resort with activities/events every weekend. You may also want to check out the events calendar on www.ococean.com to see if there is an event that weekend you may want to check out. Have a happy birthday!

Hi,I am considering coming in late October with 3 & 4 yr olds. What activities are there to do at that time of year around the boardwalk? Suggestions on hotels with Indoor Pool and childrens activities on the beach.
That is a great time of year to come with young children as the crowds have cleared out and running freely on the beach is at it's best! If you are looking for organized activities for the kids, that will be hard to come by as that has ended after Labor Day. Hotel suggestions: The Holiday Inn on 17th; the Princess Royale, the Carousel are wonderful places for the family with great lists of amenities including indoor pools. Have a great trip!

How far is Ocean City, Md from Virginia Beach?
It's 141 miles from Virginia Beach to Ocean City MD. It's a nice relaxing drive north across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. We done it a few times when we do a coastal drive up the Atlantic coast. Be sure to stop at the restaurant area on the tunnel/bridge to stretch and walk around the pier for the views.

What is your ordinance pertaining to the green laser. I just bought one and was wondering wether I can use it or not.
When I was down a week ago, I noticed that they were missing this year. They had become somewhat of a problem in year's past, so I am guessing the officials are cracking down on laser use. I would just enjoy it from home.

Is there a historic part of OC? An actual downtown away from the boardwalk?
Are any shops on the boardwalk still open the week of Sept. 12?
In addition to the shops being open, the rides may be operating as well if the weather is nice and the arcades and many restuarants will be open for business as well.

Are there a lot of people that drive from Baltimore to Ocean City to enjoy the beach just for a day?
My mom and I use to do this every year, several times a year (before she fell ill) and when I had kids brought them too. Just be prepared! Make sure to have beach items, comfortable shoes, sunblock, water, snacks and a few gallons of water to rinse yourtes off after the beach.
You can find all-day parking for $10-20 and there are attendents there.

Can I have a canopy on the beach?
Yep, we tried using one for a couple of years but discovered two things...they need to be behind the life guard's chair and that f it is a a really windy day, it is best not to put it up as the wind will destroy it.

Is the boardwalk still open in the month of September?
The boardwalk is open year round as OC is becoming a year roun destination with festivals and events planned for many weekends out of the year. You may want to consult with the calendar of events to determine how crowded the boardwalk will be if you are looking for some quiet time...at the end of September there is Sunfest at the end of the boardwalk by the inlet and things can get a bit crazy down there. Have a great trip!
