A lot depends on what you want to do. Here is a rough guess

Lodging: $180+ per night
Meals: $50+ per day (assumes basic breakfast, basic lunch, and nicer seafood dinner)
Entertainment: As little or much as you want. You can have a great time on the beach (free) and boardwalk (free) and at any of OC's many free events or spend less than $10 on souvenirs or snacks.

Parking is generally free at your motel. You can take the bus anywhere for $3 per day

Bars have cover charges around $10, but many have no cover. bar and restaurant prices are no higher than in most areas.

Tour boats and other entertainment items are $10 to $20 per person.

You can get lots of coupons for discounts in the Sunny Day or Visitors Guide magazines. You can get these all over town or stop at the Visitor's Center at the south end of the convention center.

Are there any hotels, preferably on the boardwalk that allow pets? I have a 1-year old chocolate labrador retriever and want to bring him up for the weekend with me soon. Also, are there any parts of the beach that dogs are permitted to walk on leash with me, or go into the water? If so, what time(s) are they permitted to do this?

Check out Barefoot Mailman.  It's not on the boardwalk, however dogs are permitted on the beach or boards during specific periods of time (October 1 - April 30).  However there is a great doggie playground at 94th Street.

I like this website, although there are others that are similar, http://www.bringfido.com/destination/city/ocean_city_md_us/

Have a wonderful time -

Are there surfing beaches in OC? If so, where exactly are thye and is there a fee?

Ocean City has two types of  a fixed location and two rotating location surfing beaches. The fixed location is on the beach just north of the inlet. It is open most weekdays and closed to surfers most weekends. There are two rotating location surfing beaches that each move a couple of blocks south everyday. These are each about two blocks wide. A complete schedule for all surfing beaches for 2011 can be found here: http://oceancitymd.gov/Recreation_and_Parks/Beach_Patrol/pdf/surfing-beach-rotation.pdf

Surfing beaches, like all of OC's beaches, are guarded and free. There is a dedicated guard for each surfing beach (look for the red life guard chair). The north and south ends of each surfing area are marked with flags. Non surfers are not generally allowed to swim in the surfing areas.

You are also allowed surf anywhere along OC's beaches before or after the guards go off duty (before 10AM and after 5:30PM).

We are visiting OC the first week in August. We need two cars but Golden Sands only allows for 1 car parking. Where is the best and securest place to park a car for the week which is not an hourly rate?

Anna gave some great ideas. You can even park on a side street further way from Golden Sands. I have parked cars for a week at a time on OC's side streets, and never had an issue. OC has very little crimre rleatd to car break ins or thefts, so if you use common sense your car is safe anywhere in town.

My girlfriend and I will be spending a week in August, a saturday-saturday. Any suggestions on good restaurants, bars, beach bars, happy hours, good oysters, great drinks, good late night spots, and other things to do and see while were there?

You will have a great time in OC! Here are a few ideas of places to consider:

Casual Restaurants: Fish Tales (22nd), Harborside (West OC at commercial harbor), Seacrets (49th on the bay), Bull on the Beach (94th), Dead Freddies (64th), Lombardi's (pizza, 94th)

Nicer Restaurants: Captain's Galley (West OC at commercial harbor), Captains Table (15th on BW), Bombora (13th on BW), Fager's Island (60th on bay), Liquid Assets (94th), Bahama Mamas (crabs, Wicomico Street at the bay)

Bars: Purple Moose (Caroline Street on boardwalk), Party Block (17th), Seacrets (49th on the bay), Cork Bar (Wicomico Street near BW)

Bands and DJs: Checkout this list for the latest set of entertainment http://www.coconuttimes.com/oc-md-whos-where-when.

Seacrets, Purple Moose, BJs on the Water, Party Block, Harborside, coconuts, Pit-n-Pub and Dead Freddies are just a few places with live bands.

Pickup a Coconut Times, Beachcomber, or similar free newspaper when you get to OC to get a list of who is playing where and when and lots of info about bars and happy hours.

Definitely spend a night or afternoon at Seacrets!

Have a great trip!

Businesses operating on the beach, streets, or directly on the boardwalk are highly regulated by the Town of Ocean City. Most businesses operate out of fixed locations that they rent or own.

You can get specific information on business licensing requirements either by calling the town Finance Department (410.289.8858)  or by reviewing the requirements on their website at http://oceancitymd.gov/Finance/license.html

Comment on - You can also find out about her art work by contacting the Delmarva Discovery Center at 410-957-9933 or www.delmarvadiscoverycenter.org.  I know her works are regularly shown there.  The Ocean Gallery may also sell her prints as they sell many local artists.

Keep in mind, the Discovery Center is located in Pocomoke, MD.  It's a 50 minute drive or maybe a little longer depending on traffic.

We are contemplating coming down over Christmas Holiday. What kind of events are held at this time of the year? What restaurants are open during this time also. Thank You.

We come down every Christmas.  The most popular activity is the Winterfest Carnival of Lights at Northside Park  You go on a tram ride through out the park two see lights commemorating the 12 days of Christmas, Ocean Themed displays, etc.  Your child can visit Santa, and there is Hot Chocolate too.  Dress warm as the tram is an open air tram and the park is just off the bay so it can get cold.

Also, hotels like the Carousel and Dunes Manor do a fine job of decorating the outside and inside of their hotels.

The Green Turtle, Candy Kitchen on Coastal Hwy, Fresco's, Fager's Island, and Dumser's all remain open.  There are too many places that stay open to mention.  you can even play miniature golf at one of Old Pro golf's two indoor locations.

Is there beach access for my wheelchair? Can I get to the ocean on the beach in my wheelchair? Thanks, Bobby

Comment on - Almost every street has access for wheelchairs.  But is your wheelchair beach ready?

The Town of Ocean City provides beach wheelchairs at designated locations from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily, from Memorial Day through Labor Day. They are available from the Beach Patrol on a first-come, first-serve basis. Beach wheelchairs must be used within one block (north or south) of the location where you picked it up, and must be returned by 5:00 PM.

Please note that beach wheelchairs may not be taken into the water or off of the beach itself.

These locations may change depending on availability:

Inlet Lot, 7th St., 30th St., 40th St., 48th St., 59th St., 70th St., 81st St., 89th St., 94th St., 107th St., 120th St., 130th St., 139th St., 145th St.

The Ocean City Police Department provides beach wheelchairs at 65th St., (bayside). You can reserve one in advance for one or more days of use. Certain restrictions may apply. Call (410) 723-6610 for details.

The Ocean City Visitors Center also offers beach wheelchairs by advance reservation for 1-3 days of use. For details, visit the Roland E. Powell Convention Center on 40th Street, or call (410) 289-2800.

Great info provided here.  I too suggest you reserve a beach wheel chair.  It will be much easier in the sand.
