My husband and I are in our 30's and are going to visit OC in July (This year). We wanted to know the BEST places to go and see everything. We plan to stay for 3 or 4 days. Thanks!

The great news is that there is so much to see and do in OC that you couldn't begin to see it all in 3 days. I've been going my whole life and I still am trying out new places!

One of the best palces to start is by going to the visitor's center at the south end of the Convention Center at 41st Street. They will have information on everything OC has to offer. They will also have magazines and newspapers describing what is going on while you are there and lots of discount coupons.

Here are a few suggestions:
- Spend the day on the beach. OC has some of the best beaches yo will ever go to. Clean, guarded, really nice sand and surf!
- Visit the boardwalk. Park at the south end of OC at the inlet parking lot and walk north. visit the shops and restaurants. Try some famous Thrasher's fries, an ice cream treat from Dumser's Dairyland, Candy Kitchen, and Fischer's Popcorn. Stop in the Kite Loft at 5th Street for some cool kites and toys.
- If you like going to bars, check out the Cork Bar or Purple Moose (bands every night) on the boardwalk
- If you like clubs, be sure to visit Seacrets (http://seacrets.com/) at 49th Street. It is a one of a kind!
- Enjoy a great sunset over the bay from either Sunset Park or one of the bay front restaurants. Fager's Island, The Hobitt, BJs, and many others have great views of the sun setting over the bay.
- Enjoy some great seafood. Explore the other Insider Q&As to get some great recommendations.
- Take in some great entertainment including mini golf, laser tag, go carts, Ripley's Believe-it-or-Not, and several amusement parks and water parks.
- If you like nature, take a trip down to Assateague to see the ponies. Be sure to stop at the visitor's center
- Consider renting a boat, jets-ski, going para sailing or taking one of the tour boats to get a different view of the city.

Have a great trip!

Hi! My husband and I are in our early 50's and would love to stay for a week in July or August. The only problem is that we have never been to OC, so unfamiliar with the area. Would like to be near the water but away from the boardwalk. At least 2 bedrooms are needed. Thanks in advance! joann

I think you would really enjoy the Clarion.  It's right on the ocean, awesome rooms, provides nightly entertainment and has wonderful food.  They are also on 101st Street so they are definitely away from the boardwalk. Check out their website:  http://clarionoc.com/

When using one of the beach wheelchairs, it must be used within two blocks (one north & south) of where the wheelchair is assigned & kept.

Beach wheelchairs are available free of charge, on a first-come, first-serve basis from the attending beach patrol & must be returned by 5 p.m.

As Tara said, it depends where you are coming from. There are four main ways to get to OC. Coming from Route 50 you need to cross the Route 50 bridgeacross the Sinepuxent Bay into OC. Coming on Route 90 you need to cross the bridges across the St. Martins river and the Assawoman Bay. Coming south down DE Route 1 you will need to cross the Indian River Bridge. None of these are huge tall bridges like the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. The Route 50 and Indian River Bridges are both less than a mile long. The Route 50 and route 90 bridges are probably only about 40 feet off the water. You can take DE Route 54 from Route 113 to Fenwick Island and then take coastal Highway South into OC you will not cross any notable bridges.

If you are not from the eastern shore you have some other challenges dealing with the Chesapeake Bay and theDelware Bay/River. These bridges are much more significant than the ones into OC. If you are coming from the the South (e.g., Norfolk) you need to take the Bay Bridge Tunnel. If you are comming from the West (e.g., Baltimore, Washington) you need to take the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. If you are coming from New Jersey or north you need to cross the Delaware Bay Bridge or one of the bridges into Philadelphia. You could cross the Delaware Bay on the Cape May Lewis Ferry, but then you will still need to cross the Indian River Bridge. The final set of bridges that could be a problem are the ones across the C&D canal. If you come from eastern Pennsylvania or northern Maryland you can avoid all bridges except the C&D bridges by going across the north end of the Chesapeake Bay and then taking 113 to 54 to OC.

Sorry that I could not give a more direct or better answer, but there is really no way to get to OC, other than by boat, without crossing some significant bridges.

I am looking into a package deal for coming to OC this summer sometime--I am in central PA and used Fullington Tours last time I visited, but their prices are too expensive for me now. Are there any other more affordable package deals? I'm not looking for a super fancy hotel or anything--I'm looking for something that includes transportation to and from OC. Thanks.
