Do you have any idea which hotels would have beach wheelchairs for rent?

Few hotels rent beach wheel chairs, because in general they are available for free. There are several ways to get one:

From Memorial Day to Labor Day, there are beach wheelchairs available every few blocks. The lifeguards provide access to the chairs on a first-come-first-serve basis, but chairs are generally available. Chairs from beach locations must be used within one block (one north and south) of where the chair is assigned and kept. They are available at the inlet beach and at the beach crossing at the heads of the following streets: Somerset, Talbot, North Division, 12th, 25th, 35th, 37th, 40th, 48th, 59th, 70th,  81st, 89th, 94th, 107th, 120th, 130th, 139th, 145th. You can get more information here.

If you want to be more certain of getting a chair, they are also available at the Ocean City Police Department at 65th Street, bayside. You can reserve them for one or more days of use. Call 410.723.6610 for more information. Beach wheelchairs are also available from the Ocean City Visitors Center in the Convention Center on 40th St. for one to three days of use by advance reservation. Call 410.289.2800 for more information. I believe chairs from either of these sources are available year round.

Be aware that these beach wheelchairs are large and do not fold up. They require a fairly large vehicle to transport (check with the people you talk to to see if it will fit in your vehicle).

If you want to rent a chair, and need pickup and delivery, try PMI rental. They may rent beach wheelchairs and they do deliver. You an reach them at 800.320.7469.

I am going to be a vrndor at the oc convention center in maryland on March 8th, 9th and 10th at the expo, my question is we are traveling in our motor home and want to know if we can camp at the convention center. There are no campgrounds open in the area until after April 1st.

While there are no restrictions on parking your Motor Home in OC at this time of year, according to the Ocean City Police Department, sleeping in motor vehicles at any time of year is prohibited. You may want to call the police department (410.723.6610) and/or the Convention Visitor's Center (800.626.2326) to double check. Be sure to get the name of whoever you talk to.

There are two places that have allowed RVs to park on their private property that I know of. Since it is Private Property sleeping there should be fine.  They are:

The First Presbyterian Church at 13th Street has parking. Call them at 410.289.9340 for reservations and fees.

The Kitchen, a restaurant on Wicomico Street in downtown Ocean City used to have parking and may still. A fee is charged. This is just a couple of blocks from the inlet parking lot. Call 410.289.2244 for more information. They may not be open at this time of year.

Good luck on your search.

Two of my friends and I are looking to go to Ocean City for the summer of 2013, we'd like to get jobs and have a cheap place to stay. I'm not too familiar on the area so if anyone could help me out that would be great! I just lost my mother to an illness and I really just need a change of scenery and to get myself together. So any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

I am so sorry to hear of your loss, there is no better place to get your mind and soul straight than Ocean City.  I've attached a pdf file listing seasonal rentals provided by the Greater Ocean City Chamber of Commerce.

I have often been in OC in the off season, Things can be very quiet during the week, but we have always found things to do. Some things we have done include

Go bowling at 72nd Street Ocean Lanes. Call ahead to check for lane availability (410.524.7550) and be ware they take cash only.

Play indoor mini golf at one of the two Old Pro Indoor Courses

Play Laser Tag at Planet Maze.

Go shopping at the shops in nearby Berlin

If it is a warm day, checkout some WWII history at Fort Miles in Lewis, DE.

Go Ice Skating or see an ice skating show at the Carousel.

Go to the Salisbury Zoo - It is about 30 miles away. It is a nice community zoo, and it is free!

Get some crabs from Crabs-to-Go or Bahama Mamas to feel a bit more like summer. Both of these places have excellent crabs year round.

If the weather is nice about 30% of the Boardwalk shops will be open. Boardwalk favorites  Thrasher's Fries, Dumser's ice cream, Fisher's popcorn (my favorite!), Candy Kitchen , and Marty's Playland are almost always open on the weekends.

Many restaurants are open year round, but some only on weekends. If you go to the Visitor's Center at the Convention Center, they usually have a list of what restaurants are open when for the off season. Most restaurants in large hotels art open year round

It is always nice to stay at a place with an indoor pool - it can be great to get a chance to swim in the winter. Dunes Manor has an indoor/outdoor pool that my kids swam in last Christmas when there was snow on the outside deck area!

You can find plenty to do any time of year in OC!

Can you buy a weekly ride pass for the Boardwalk Tram?

A weekly pass is not available......

Tram fare is $3 per person, per boarding, one way ride. Discount fare punch cards are available at $20 for 8 rides. Inquire at either tram station or with a tram conductor.

New unlimited ride pass, which costs $6, a passenger can now get on and off the Boardwalk tram as much as they like between the hours of 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. The unlimited ride pass is only valid on the day of purchase and is not available during Holidays, Holiday Weekends or Special Events. Unlimited ride passes are sold at both north and south tram ticket booths and on any tram.

Hi, I'm a college student and my spring break is the second week in March. Would that be a good time to come or is the weather really bad? I Would things be open? I just wanted to get away from the crazy and relax at the beach and OC is the closest. Thanks!

While it will still be a bit chilly in March, I think Ocean City is a great place to head for Spring Break.  You'll find that most restaurants, bars/clubs and shops are still in "second season" mode.... they operate, but with reduced hours.  Seacrets is not open all week as of yet, they open Thursdays-Sunday.  There still is lots to do, check out Harborside for an original Orange Crush!  There are great hotel and meal deals still going on......... perfect time to head to town.

Hello, I am looking for a weekend getaway with my wife and 2 sons. I would like to see ocmd in the winter as I have been there in the summer. Are there enough attractions and amenities open in the winter for us to do. I am looking for some kid friendly things to do during the day and some family friendly authentic places for dinner. Do you have any suggestions for winter time family fun activities? We are also looking for accomodations that would have an indoor pool.

Ocean City is definitely much quieter in the winter, especially January to March, However, most weekends there is some major event in town. You can get a list of events here. If your dates are flexible, try to go for the St Patrick's Day Parade on March 16th. It is alwasy a lot of fun. You can get more information here.

I go to OC often in the winter with my 4 kids (now ages 11 - 19) and we always find fun things to do. There is much more to do on weekends than during the week. Here are a few ideas:

Go bowling at 72nd Street Ocean Lanes. Call ahead to check for lane availability (410.524.7550) and be aware they take cash only.

Play indoor mini golf at one of the two Old Pro Indoor Courses

Play Laser Tag at Planet Maze.

It is always nice to stay at a place with an indoor pool - it can be great to get a chance to swim in the winter. Dunes Manor has an indoor/outdoor pool that my kids swam in last Christmas when there was snow on the outside deck area! The other major hotels will be open and all have indoor pools. These include the Clarion, Carousel, and new Hampton Inn.

You can find plenty to do any time of year in OC!

Hi! I am looking forward to come to OC this summer with J1 visa. I would like to ask if the retail sales clerk position is a job where you can get tips? If is it a job to candies and gummies or something like this? Thanx a lot:)

Your best bet is to reach to one of the international studnet centers and services that serve Ocean City. They can help you find a job, housing, transportation, and provide other useful information. I'd start by connecting with the International Student Center - They help lots of international students find jobs and housing in OC and likely can help you too. You can also call them at 410.289.0350. Two other options are OC International Student Services and E-Point Student Center. The E-Point Student Center site has lots of great information to help you plan your travels, find employment and prepare for living in the United States for the summer.

Two other possible sources of connections for jobs are:
(1) Work with the Chamber of Commerce - They have job listings and are holding a large Job Fair at the end of March - Find out more about it here.
(2) Watch the classified sections of  Maryland Coast Dispatch and Ocean City Today. Both of these have seasonal job listings.

Good luck in your search!

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

If you are going to use the beach for your wedding, you need to coordinate a time and location with the Mayor's Office. You can call them at 410.289.8931 to do this. There is no fee. There is some more information here. There are limitations on the times you can do this, especially during the summer.

To get married in OC you first need to apply for a Worcester County marriage license. Call the Clerk of Court Office at 410.632.5500 to find out exactly what’s required, what documents are needed, when you can apply, and how long it takes.

Depending on your needs, you may want to consider working with one of OC's wedding planning companies. They can offer you anything from just an officiant for the event to a full blown package. Here are some places that offer these services:
Weddings by the Seashore 800.884.0026
Ocean City Wedding Pastor 410.603.9918
Beach Weddings by Rox 866.472.3012

Have a great wedding in OC!
