Hi! I am vacationing here for the first time this summer and was looking into renting a house around 7th St and Philadelphia Ave. I don't know the area and wondered if it is in a good location. What is a must-do activity while I'm down there? Can anyone give me some tips to key things about Ocean City?

This a good location be to around all the action of the Boardwalk. It will be noiser at night than some locations as this is a major thoroughfare for car and foot traffic. If you want action and convenience, it is a good location. I would ensure you have parking at the house, as street parking can be hard.

Must do activities: eat at Seacrets, Fish Tales, and Dead Freddies (eat outside); lay mini-golf; spend a day and evening on the Boardwalk; walk the beach; take a trip to Assateague Island; and dance the night away at Seacrets.

I am planning a trip in aug or sept. Which month should I go and will the shops be open? What hotels are on the boardwalk?

August you will get more of the summer vacationers.
September will be less crowded because families travel less due to school.

Many boardwalk shops will be open through Labor Day, then reduced operating schedule and normally weekends only (weather permitting) after then.  Otherwise, you can find many places open (some all year!).

Boardwalk hotels - our favorites are Tidelands Caribbean, Quality Inn Boardwalk or Holiday Inn Suites.

Don't forget to take advantage of the travel planner on the www.ococean.com website.  Great tool for planning your perfect vacation.

Have a great trip!

Does anyone know if Northside Park is having an Easter Egg hunt this year? And what weekend are they having it?

Thank you for such a great question!  The annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held on Saturday, April 7th from 1 - 3 pm at Northside Park.  The cost is $6 per child for residents and $8 per child for non residents.  You can register in-person at the Northside Park Recreation office.  Thank you for your question and enjoy your stay in beautiful Ocean City!

I see that Horseback riding is allowed on the beach until March 30th. Are there horses available to rent?

Ocean City does not provide horses for rent. You would have to make arrangements with a local stable to have one brought to you. The cost to ride on the beach is $20. I don't know if the stable has an additonal charge.

With the weather so warm in March this year, are there people swimming at the beaches yet? How about the pools at the hotels? Are they full?

I'm sure there are some brave people who will enter the water on warmer days, but the water is still in the upper 50's to low 60's at best.  And the majority of the outdoor pools are still empty at the hotels. Most don't fill their pools till May.

How are the water temps in late may? Too cold for toddlers to enjoy the ocean?

The water is still very cool in late May. At best it will be in the 60's or very low 70's.  Your toddler will turn blue rather quickly. I suggest that you take an inflatable pool along to the beach and fill that with some ocean water that will get warm fast if it's in the sun.  Little ones love just jumping in and out of it without having to deal with the "big" water.  And don't forget the sun block.

Is OC crowded first week in April? (Spring break) thanks

Not really.  The rides and things aren't open yet and the ocean water is still cold, so most of the college kids head further south where there is warmer weather and more things to keep them occupied.

It's coming along. They are working around 17th St. right now, (this picture is in front of the Holiday Inn and Suites on 17th) and the very beginning at the inlet in front of the Life Saving Station Museum is done.
