Will everything be opened the week before Memorial Day? Or will we run into a lot of the restaurants/shops/rides not open?

Yes everything is opened now.  All the restaurants are open and the shops are open now. The rides are open on weekends now but will be everyday soon.  Most shops on the boardwalk open even in the winter weather permitting. Ocean City, MD is now a year round family resort. Please call 1-800-oc-ocean for a free tour guide. just follow the voice prompts. have a nice time planning your trip.

My aunt has a hard time walking, I was wondering if any place has a sort of motorized wheelchair that can be rented for the week?? I realize the tram and the buses are available but I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask if something like that was available in the area

What are some good golf courses near Ocean City for beginners? I'd like something nearby, scenic, not too crowded, and where I won't lose too many balls. I used to go to Pine Shore North and South, but they have closed.

I have golfed at a few golf courses and noticed that the Ocean City Golf Club in Berlin has a fairly easy course to play on.  www.oceancitygolfclub.com  It wasn't very crowded the last time I went. From a lack of playing for the last few years,  I lose alot of balls too!  :)

I grew up on Pawleys Island SC and live in Manassas, Va now.  I would like to spend my birthday at OC.  I want to stay Beach front and would like a view but thats not a must. Near good resturants, Bars, and I love the carnival atmosphere. Not really into big corp. hotel chains. And of course, as inexpensive as possible. And when is peak season ? I'd like to visit sept. 16 thru 18 th Thanks

This is a GREAT time to visit OC.  The ocean is still warm, the breeze is cool and most businesses are still open 7 days a week.  The crowds are way down and there's little to no wait for a meal.  I know from experience because my mom and I have visited this time of year for the last 2 decades to celebrate our September birthdays!

I have the perfect place for you, Beach Plaza Hotel at 1301 Atlantic Avenue, OC, MD 21842. You can reach them at 410.289.9121 or http://www.beachplazaoc.com/.

They are right on the boards and the ocean, with quiet, quaint  rooms.  Beach Plaza has a wonderful porch with inviting rockers so you can grab a fabulous mixed drink at the bar and grab a rocker to people watch while enjoying the ocean breeze.  And you're in for a treat if you venture into Bombora, the on site restaurant. All I can say is how pleasing Chef Arturo's creations are to one's palette. Visit http://www.bomboraoc.com/ for more information.

Off site you are a short walk to other food and drink venues.  You could basically park to check in and leave your vehicle there the entire visit. (Saving gas!) If you choose not to walk you can step off the porch and right onto a tram car that will take visitors from one end of the boards to the other.

Have a great time! And Happy Birthday!

My son and his friend are visiting OC on 5/22 - 5/25. Will most of the amusements, arcades, boardwalk attractions, etc. be open then?

Yes, the town will be gearing up for the Memorial Day celebrations.  However, some shops, attractions, etc. may have reduced operating schedules during the week.

Hope they have a great time!

What tide is better to fish on for flounder, high or low tide?

Oyster Bay Tackle is your best bet for fishing advice.  I have been using them for over 20 years.  I have caught flunder when the tide was coming in and out.  Oyster Bay Tackle will usually point where in the bay the most flounder is.  I have caught the most flounder below 5th St.

Mid-week activities are still slow.  I would go to Seacrets one night; they usually have music/DJ and the place draws a nice crowd.  BJ's and Fagers Island are two other good choices for fun at night.

Dairy Queen also offers wonderful birthday cakes for around $30.  The shop on 128th Street has them pre-made in their icecream case.

You will find everything open until late October.  Stores do not close until later in the fall, if at all.  About 30% of the stores are open all year long.
