What happened to the crab fest. Where they had all the different crab soups and you picked the one you like to win. We drove down several years for that and don't see it listed anymore. What happened?

The Crab Cook-off is no longer an event in Ocean City, I am sorry to say.  For great crab soup, I recommend the cream of crab at BJ's and The Hobbit.

My family and I are considering a late summer trip to Ocean City, probably Sept 3-10. Will we be missing out on any shops or activities due to this later date? My in laws want to join us and can't make it until this time frame but I want to make sure that most things (boardwalk, stores, mini golf, etc) will be open and ready for my young family to enjoy. Thanks!!

September is a great time to vacation in OC. The ocean water is its warmest, the weather is still great and the crowds are not as bad this time of the year. Yes shops, restaurants and stores will be still open Sept 3-10. Have Fun.

If I remember correctly from last year there was some corner of the Convention Center where you could pick up coupons and discount booklets. Is that still the case and if so, where exactly in the CC is it? Thanks

You are talking about the Visitor's Center at the Convention Center. It is at the south end (left end) of the Convention Center. The Convention Center is on the bay side of Coastal Highway on 40th Street.

They have lots of free books, magazines, and newspapers with maps, information, and coupons. You can also purchase a coupon book there with even more deals for about $10.

There is mini-golf open in several locations and the go-carts in West Ocean City are open.  The inside rides at Trimpers open Friday at noon.

We are coming from Northeast PA. Someone told us that there is a nicer way to get OC that much of the ride is very scenic. The last and only time we went to OC we followed the GPS which took us to rt 1, off of rt 1, onto 13 i believe and then we sat on a small st road for what seemed like forever to get into OC. What is the "most attractive" way to drive to OC from PA?

I believe that is a good compromise of speed and beauty.  Route 1 is a scenic nice drive.  I think the key is to have a balance of speed and scenary.

We are going to OC with a group ranging from my parents 57 down to 6 months old, teenagers and toddlers and younger to older 20's. If there is just something that we HAVE TO DO before we leave OC besides the beach what would you reccomend?

Oh boy, so much to do in OC, so little time, at least to me sometimes.  Let me list things I like to do and you can go from there.
Arcades, shopping, go carts, mini golf, Splash Mountain Water Park, Jolley Rodgers Amusement Rides, boardwalk strolling, riding bikes and eating Thrashers Fries, Fishers Popcorn, Fish Tales Seafood burreto, Phillips seafood buffet and Anthony's roast beef sandwiches.

Where can we go to have a campfire on the beach for roasting marshmallows etc? Is that against the law?

Camp fires on the beach are illegal.  The Town hosts a bon fire weekly in the summer starting in July, but I have not seen anyone roast marshmellows.  It is on First Street I believe.  You can get a grill for free at Northside Park and grill there.

Do you need to purchase a fishing license when you visit OCMD in order to fish? If sho, how much do they cost?

Hi, my family and I will be staying at the Bahia Vista May 19th thru the 22nd. Since our condo is right along the bay and we have access to a dock directly behind the unit we rented, my question is, will we be able to do any fishing in the bay, and if so, do we need special licenses and what are the rules? Thank you for your help!

This is a great link and it's written by the owner of Oyster Bay Tackle, which is our favorite location and supplies for fishing information during our vacations (http://www.atbeach.com/fishrpt.html).

This should answer all your questions and if not Sue's information to contact her is included with the posting.

Thank you,
Anna G.
