I spend about every weekend in Ocean City as well as a week in June July, and August.  I have my most fun in August as the water is very warm by that time.  Much in Ocean City is already open with everything being open on Memorial Day.

Hey, I am thinking about working in OC this summer. I have some job offers but know where to stay yet. Where is the best place to go to find summer long rentals?

When does the Boardwalk area with rides open for the 2011 season?

Comment on - When the rides do open, get a wrist band for Trimper's rides or a multi ride pass for the pier rides as it is cheaper.

The link for Trimpers is http://www.trimpersrides.com/

I would like to spend the day at Ocean City Beach; however, will not be staying at the beach. Is there a changing station? For example, to change from beach clothes to normal attire to walk around and changing baby pampers.

Lucky for you, OCean City is very laid back.  Your beach attire is fine for the day and evening.  If you wish to freshen up and change your clothes you are a little out of luck.  You would either have to change in your car or risk getting caught changing in a bathroom.  Like Karl said there is a bath house down town.

Planning a trip  to OC this summer some time in June or July for me and my boyfriend (ages 23,25) . This will be our first time to OC and don’t know atmosphere around this time of year. We haven’t been away in about 2yrs so we want to make this a romantic but FUN getaway. What hotels, restaurants (love seafood & BBQ), bars/clubs and activity do you prefer. Also what events go on during this time.

Always lots of stuff to do in OC, especially in the summer.

In June you may run across lots of high school grads, so the crowd may be a but rowdier, but not out of control. Prices are also lower in June than the peak July season.

June 10-11 is the air show weekend. This is a spectacular, fun event that take place over the ocean at the south end of town. You ca see it for free from lots of places, or buy tickets for an even better view. More info at: http://www.ocairshow.com/Home.html

Some great places to stay include Spinnaker (ocean block, right of the boardwalk), Flamingo (ocean block, just north of the boardwalk), Castle in the Sand (ocean front), Dunes Motel or Dunes Manor (both ocean front, just north of the boardwalk), Holiday Inn (either on the BW or at 67th Street, both ocean front).

Some of my favorite places to eat seafood are Captains Galley (West OC), Marina Deck (Dorchester Street on the Bay), Bahama Mamas (great crabs, Wicomico Street on the Bay), Harrison's Harbor Watch (at the inlet, great views). For more casual dining try Harborside in West OC, one of my favorite places. For a romantic dinner you can't go wrong with the spectacular sunset views and great food that both Fager's Island and The Hobbit have to offer. Smokers BBQ (west OC or Rt 611) had great BBQ and JRs has excellent ribs. Also having a crab feast can be great fun. I recommend getting a dozen or so big crabs rather than all you can eat, because I'd rather pick bigger crabs, and the cost difference is not that much, but AYCE can be fun too.

Fun things to do include spending time on the great beach, strolling (or renting a bike and riding on) the boardwalk, eating great vacation food including Thrasher's Fries, Fisher's Popcorn, or Dumser's Ice Cream. Go carts in West OC , Trimper's Rides, Jolly Roger, and the many arcades also can be great fun. The Beach Plaza Hotel has a piano bar that can be great fun. OC also has lots of great golf, from mini golf, to short courses, to pro-level courses. From the first time golfer to the great golfer there is a nearby course where you can have fun. There are also tons of fun things to do on the bay, including renting jet skis, para sailing, renting boats, crabbing, and fishing.

I'm sure others will add more excellent ideas. Have a great trip!

I am trying to plan a mini stay Memorial Day weekend, for a family of 4/6. I am looking for a reasonable place to stay that is in walking distance to a lot of things. Can you help me out with that? Recommend places that offer reasonable rates to families?

The Spinnaker and The Thunderbird are all great places to stay.  I would go to www.ococean .com and click on the accomodations tab.  It will give you a general location of each hotel.  The great thing about OC is that you never really have to worry about walking distance.  Take the bus, it's the cheapest and easiest way around town.

Christine,

My best suggestion is to log in to www.ocean-city.com and review their online hotel booking feature.  If you book through their site you are eligible for free certificates for dining, attractions, and entertainment.  For example, during your dates of stay the Spinnaker Hotel averages $75.33/night and you get six (6) free certificates to use during your stay.

I highly recommend Blue Ox for breakfast and/or lunch, dinner, ice skating at the Carousel for your 8 year old, and La Hacienda.  In addition, you can purchase additional certificates at a great discount which will help the budget during your stay too!

Another option is Travelocity.

Hope this helps!
