OC can be a great place to visit in February, especially on weekends. The crowds are gone, but lots of great restaurants and other places are still open, especially on weekends.
You can get a great list of what is open in the off season here:
http://ococean.com/assets/managed/advertorial/oc%20md_businesses%20open%20in%20the%20winter.pdf I've been down a bunch of times in February, and there is plenty to do. Here are a few suggestions:
1.
Enjoy a great meal at one of OC's great restaurants.
Most of the restaurants in large hotels are open and these hotels have great package deals available. Some restaurants to consider are Harborside (West OC, casual), Captain's Table in the Courtyard Marriott, Fager's Island
(fancy, great bay view), Victoria Room at Dunes Manor (great of the beach and
ocean), Horizon's in the
Clarion (great of the beach and ocean), Season's in the Carousel (great
of the beach and ocean), and Harpoon Hanna's (great large warm
fireplace), Lombardi's (great pizza).
2. If it is sunny take a brisk walk on the boardwalk.
3. Visit nearby Berlin and checkout the interesting shops.
4.
Bahama Mama's, Crabs to go, and some other places still get great
crabs this time of year. The crabs are often from Louisiana, but they still
taste great. Try a dozen.
5. Mini Golf at the indoor Old Pro courses on 68th and 136th can be great fun, even for adults.
6. Sometimes we go to a movie or go bowling at the lanes on 72nd Street.
7.
Assateague has a new visitor center which I've heard is great. Go visit
it and then take a drive across the bridge to see the ponies.
8. Get a place with an indoor pool and enjoy a great swim. Dunes Manor has a great indoor / outdoor pool where you can swim outside and still be warm (My kids swam there after Christmas when there was a foot of snow on the ground in OC!). If you have kids, the Francis Scott Key has an indoor waterpark that is great. However, no matter where you go, if you are interested in a pool call ahead. Some places do pool maintenance for a week or two in the off season, so you want to be sure that the pool is operating.
Make sure you bring a warm winter coat, hat, and gloves. It will likely be cold and definitely will be windy.
Have a great trip!
