What kind of traffic backups can I expect on Thanksgiving Day 11/22/12 from the Bay Bridge to Delmar/Salisbury? What kind of traffic backups can I expect on Saturday 11/24/12 from the Bay Bridge to Delmar/Salisbury?

Traffic is always hard to predict on the Bay Bridge and on the Eastern Shore.

I've gone to OC for the past several years for Thanksgiving, and while I haven't traveled on Thanksgiving Day or the Sunday after Thanksgiving, I have paid attention to the traffic on hose days.It seems that the delays are relatively minor. A few minutes at the bay bridge and heavy though Cambridge and Easton where the traffic lights slow people down. However, unless there is an accident or other incident, you should be able to easily get through the Bay Bridge tolls and get to OC in 2 to 2.5 hours. If you are only going as far as Delmar/Salisbury you should be able to make it in about 2 hours or less. Times and traffic should be similar on both o f these days, perhaps a little heavier on Sunday.

When driving across the Route 90 bridge into Ocean City, MD, which direction, right or left, do I turn in order to arrive at the Roland E. Powell Convention Center? I know that the building is located on 40th Street.

After you cross the Route 90 bridge into OC turn RIGHT onto Coastal Highway to get to the Convention Center.

Route 90 enters OC at 62nd Street. You will turn right onto Coastal Highway (MD Route 528) and go 1.3 miles to the Convention Center. It will be on your right (bayside) at 40th Street. Look for the sign.

The tram is has shut down for the fall and winter.  It does not run after SunFest.  They actually use the tram for the Winterfest of Lights at Northside Park.

At the inlet (near the lifesaving museum and where the displays are), there is one display dedicated to the OCMD Beach Patrol. One old photo is of a group of lifeguards who I believe are spelling Ocean City in semaphore. I have been looking for a copy of that photo everywhere. Any chance you know where I might be able to find one? Thanks!

You can contact the Life Saving Museum at (410) 289-499 - they may be able to help you.  I have not seen it available in the usual picture shops, like Ocean Gallery.

Hello me and a friend are planning on working and living in Ocean City for summer 2013. It's just two girls and we would like to know the best work and living options? When should we start looking and would bartending be a good option?

Yes!  Ocean City has done an excellent job restoring what was broken and putting the sand back where it belongs.  The majority of the damage in Ocean City was on the Bay side near the inlet.  Shops and restaurants are all open.  Keep in mind that no rides or water sports are open this time of year though. Be sure to try the newly added horse drawn carriage rides around town. You'll find them on the boardwalk at the inlet next to Thrasher's Fries on the weekends after 11 a.m. We tried it two weeks ago and loved it!

My husband and I moved to Delaware recently...we live in Millsboro and I work in Ocean City. We don't know anyone here yet and are looking for information on social clubs or activities where we can meet friends with common interests in the area. Can you help us?

There are lots and lots of social clubs and great organizations in OC. Your best bet is to pickup the local papers, especially in the off season, to join in the fun of a club that meets you interest. Below are a few of them. I'm sure the other Insiders can add to this list:
  Delmarva Irish American Club
  Ocean City Cruisers Car Club
  Surfrider Foundation (conservation group)
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8296 (VFW)
  OC Parrothead Club
  OC White Marlin Club

Sorry for being late with your answer. Hopefully you found an open place. Dandy Don's was open last weekend. If the weather is nice, my experience is that most of the places below are open on weekends into November and starting again in March. None of them have particularly fixed schedules, so call ahead to be sure they will be open.
  Bike World (410.289.2587) Caroline Street
Dandy Don's Bikes (410.289.2289, 410.289.0221) North Division Street, 12th Street
Mikes Bikes (410.289.5404) North Division Street
B and F Bike Rentals (410.289.1588) Somerset Street
