Angel,

Hello... just want it insinuates... a cleaned hard shell blue crab is put in a deep fryer all spiced up!!!   Probably only takes 5 minutes or so to deep fry a hard shell crab to perfection.... usually, soft shell crabs are what are cleaned and deep fried..... great on a sandwich, and served whole!!!!!  But, there are those now deep frying hard shells..... they are delicious!

I've always wanted to go to OC, MD and now my family and I have the opportunity to go off season between Labor Day and Memorial Day weekends at Hidden Harbour. What is there to do around OC at this time of year? Are the crabs still biting in Sept.? When do the rides shut down and start up?

Laura,

OC in the non-peak season is quite frankly, a joy.... especially for those of us Insiders that have grown up watching Ocean City grow.... While there is still a distinction between peak and off peak season, Ocean City really has become a year round family resort.... you find fewer and fewer businesses, shops and restaurants that "close for the season"... you'll find that most of these establishments have gone to weekends only schedule, with a few mixed in that still observe that closed 'til May schedule.... they have become fewer and fewer though... so, what you'll find is town that is open for business, with lots less hustle and bustle..... it's truly quite magnificent if you ask me..... I'm in and out of Ocean City all the time, but I'll tell you, my favorite times have now become September, October, November, and March, April and May..... I hope you have a great time..... and yes, crabs are still biting in September... you'll find that crabbing is on a bit of a decline, but you'll still catch something.  The indoor rides do assume that weekends only schedule.... the outdoor rides (Trimper's and Jolly Roger) close after Sunfest......

When I was working in Ocean City, I worked with the Harrison Group.  They have many summer jobs available with their hotels, restaurants and more.  To inquire, visit: http://www.ocmdhotels.com/employment

Usually, preference with all jobs in Ocean City go to people who have worked for the Harrisons before, than the next group inline would go for the experienced help.  The ealier you apply, the better chance you will get for the better higher paying jobs,

Keep in mind that the OCBP never shuts down totally.  There just are no manned chairs.  Their response time will take longer but they are still guarding our beaches.

Are there any pools in Ocean City that offer day/week passes during the summer months?

You can also check with the Ocean Pines Association.  They have a pool on 49th street and ocean front.  I believe you can purchase a book of passes still.

I am flying into BWI on Sept 8th at 6pm. Is there any buses that go from the airport to OC ?

Eric,

Here is a response from the Ocean City, MD government website:

Upon arrival at BWI you can make arrangements for the SuperShuttle (ticket counters located on the lower level baggage claim area) to the downtown Greyhound Bus Station located at 2110 Haines St. The ticket counters are open 6:00 am to 2:00 am and the cost for the shuttle is $19 for one passenger and $11 for each additional passenger. The Greyhound Bus departs Downtown Baltimore at 11:30 am and 5:00 pm and costs $32 plus tax to Ocean City. You can also get a taxi from BWI to the Greyhound Bus Station for about $25.

Thank you,
Anna G.

We plan our stay from oct 10 -14.will the board walk be open and how is the weather around that time.

I will be in Ocean City the 8th - 12th and have been coming down that weekend for quite some time.  It can be hit or miss on the weather.  Sometimes, we have been in shorts and other times pants and jackets, you just can't be sure.  I believe two years ago, my son played in the ocean.  The boardwalk never closes so you don't have to worry about that.  Some of the shops close and the rides will be closed, but enough should be open.  I see that you will be down during the week, more is closed then, but like I said, enough will be open, especially since it is Columbus day weekend.

I am planning on driving from Ocean City to Bethesda, MD early Tuesday morning. If I leave at about 6am do you think it will take more than 3 hours to get to Bethesda (assuming there are no accidents)? I have never left the beach that early during a weekday so I have no idea what the rush hour traffic is like going toward Maryland!

Hi Marisa, I live in NJ and i thought we were the only state with fun traffic. However, I would also leave around 5:30am/5:45am in case you hit traffic. You never know sometimes it's lighter then other days. Be careful out there.
