Wanda,

There are several comfort stations along the boardwalk:
  • Boardwalk at Worcester Street
  • Boardwalk at Caroline Street
  • Boardwalk at 9th Street
  • Boardwalk at 27th Street
  • South Division Street Transit Center

The Caroline Street location definitely has showers as I have seen them, however I'm not sure on the other locations.  Perhaps another Insider can provide specifics on the other locations.

    Have a great trip!

What is the weather like June 12-19? Will it rain? Is the water going to be cold?

    Greta,

Great week to visit.  Fireman's Convention and tons of great activities and sights.  Don't miss the parade on Wednesday, June 16th - lots of fire apparatus, fire prevention, marching bands and such.   It runs from the Inlet to 9th Street and starts normally around 10am.

Rain - can't say for sure; however we are down this same time each year for Fireman's Convention and out of the last 11 years, it has been a total rain out 1 time.  Normally we'll experience a shower and then sunshine.

Water temperatures, really vary, but my children do not care if it is 60 or 70 degrees - they are in the ocean!  Normally, it's around 65 degrees, but the air temperatures are in the upper 70s so it doesn't feel that chilly.

You will have a great time!  Remember, stop by the convention center and check out all the great fire apparatus and watch the parade on June 16th!

    Thank you,

    Anna G.

Is there free parking available at the North End Transit Center in North Ocean City?

    Rafael,

I'm not sure on the parking availability at the 144th Street North End Transit Center.  However there is parking available at 100th Street (http://ococean.com/travel-tools/parking-information).  You can then walk to Coastal Highway (short walk from parking lot) and catch a transit bus at that location.

Hope you enjoy your visit to OC.

How can I get a free Bus Pass?

    Kyle,

If you are a senior participating in Senior Week, the Play It Safe Program offers free bus passes (http://www.playitsafeoceancity.com/welcome.html).

A non-resident senior bus pass is available free of charge to anyone 60 years of age or older. This pass will entitle the holder to half-fare passage on the bus, trolley, and paratransit van (if eligible). The non-resident bus pass is not recognized for reduced or free passage on the trams. For more information, call the Transportation Department at 410-723-1606 or the City Hall receptionist at 410-289-8221.

The other alternative is to purchase discount coupons – 20 passes for $15 - valid for the Coastal Highway, Trolley Routes and Park and Ride shuttle service.

    Have a great visit.

Hi, I'm coming to Ocean City in about a week and intend to work there for the whole summer. I think the best way to go around the city is with a bike. Where can I get a second hand bike for a bargain price? Or where can I rent a bike for the whole summer but for a fair price? Thanks for answering!

    Marsha,
The bus system in Ocean City is top-notch, inexpensive, and dependable.  Getting around Ocean City won't break your vacation budget. In fact, it will only cost you a few dollars! Ocean City municipal buses travel along Coastal Highway 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and you can ride for just $2 per day. Our safe and clean buses are reliable and convenient and offer multiple stops along Coastal Highway, so your favorite OC attractions are easily accessible and within walking distance. Ocean City buses also run to and from the West Ocean City Park & Ride facility.   Ocean City also offers a Boardwalk Tram for riding up and down the boardwalk.  This is $3 per ride.

I am coming home to MD to visit family and am bringing my family in a rental RV (31'). We will be coming to OC for a few nights and staying about 15 miles inland. Is there parking available for the RV near the boardwalk? Appreciate your advice.

Ocean City has restrictions on parking RVs during the summer so it might be tough to find a place. From their website:

    RV Parking

RVs and other oversized vehicles may not park in any municipal lot, public street or alley between June 1 and September 15 of each year by Town Ordinance. An oversized vehicle is defined as 21 feet, 2 inches or more in length, and 6 feet, 8 inches in width, needing more than one parking space. For more information, call the Ocean City Police Department at 410-732-6610.

You can check with the police department to see if you can park in the west OC park and ride and take the bus. You can also see if Frontier Town can help you. They have a campground and regularly running buses over to the boardwalk.

What it's the weather like in the end of August around the 22nd to the 29th? Is it still warm for kids to swim in the ocean? I know it's the beginning of value season. Is it because kids are starting school, or is it the weather that makes it cheaper? Is everything still open?

Prices go down later in August because demand goes down as kids go back to school. However, I think the end of August through most of September are some of the best times in OC. The weather is still very nice, and the water has warmed up. The beach remains in great shape and is still guarded for its full length through Labor Day. The crowds have thinned a bit. Everything is open until at least Labor Day, and almost everything remains open until Sunfest or even later in September. You can't go wrong going at that time of year.
