I know that there are many old postcards with great pictures on them available on ebay.  I search for Ocean City postcards periodically and there are many available.  There is also a book available of old Ocean City pictures.  I am unsure of its name but have seen it in or near Donald's Duck Shoppe in Gold Coast Mall.  They can be reached at 410-524-9177.

My fiance and I are looking to elope and come to OC on the weekend of Oct. 1st. but we want to be sure that we're not going to be missing out on anything...when does everything start shutting down for the season? We're interested in the nightlife on the boardwalk, etc...

Hi Amy,
All of the pier rides and arcades and Jolly Roger are shut down, but on the weekends most of the stores, etc. are still open.  And that's Winefest weekend!  www.winefest.com  There are lots of other events going on then too! http://www.beach-net.com/events/eventsmdoct.html  You picked a great time to go down. The weather should still be warm enough to only need a light jacket, and the water should still be warm enough that  you can sit by the beach.
Good luck on your elopement.  Best wishes!

What and where is the best reasonable place to stay week of July 17th to 24th. My wife and I (50 somethingers) are planning to come down from New England to enjoy someplace different. We just returned from a extra long weekend at The Grand on the boardwalk. We enjoyed OC and nearby communities. I am sure it is MUCH different in the summer. Also trying to convince more family members to join us, most of which have never heard of OC.

a great place to stay that is reasonable but a little more north is the Princess Royale on 91st St.  www.princessroyale.com
It is ocean front and is close to many fine restaurants and activities.  It's one of my favorite hotels as it has a kitchen, living room and bedroom.  You can have family members stay in the living room also as the sofa turns into a bed.

Kimberly,

Yes, many of the businesses are open on weekends, and many all week.  We were down in March and April and a large portion of the boardwalk shops were open.  So you will have no problem.

Wow, 16 years old, here are a few places to take the birthday child:
    *   FishTales (beautiful views of the bay, and fantastic food!)
    *   Jolly Rogers Speed Track (go-karts, need I say more?)
    *   Boardwalk Arcades
    *   Carousel Ice Skating
    *  NorthSide Park - fishing/crabbing
             Stop at the bait and tackle shop next to Green Turtle -
                    great people and excellent advice.

Hope you have a great weekend!

Tony,

Please visit the Town's website, http://oceancitymd.gov/ada.html, as it provides great information.  I did not see an answer to your question concerning mobility scooters (although I have seen them on the boardwalk in year's past), recommend contacting the Town directly.

Hope you have a wonderful time.

There are 35 handicap designated parking spots at the inlet lot. I don't know for certain if those parking spots are available during festivals or car shows, but here is the phone number to call for information.
Ocean City Park & Ride     410-723-1606
They do allow free 90 minute parking for those using the handicapped spots, however anything beyond 90 minutes you will have to pay.
I did email the group who takes care of the car cruise weekends and as soon as I hear back from them, I'll post up their response.

Try Island Cycles at 311 South Baltimore  Ave.  They also rent bicycles. I don't know what their rates would be though.
