Please note that many areas are scoured by people with metal detectors and they keep what they find.

Can you still rent sand chairs and umbrellas from the folks on the beach in mid September, say second weekend in September?

My trip is getting closer-we arrive this Saturday! I will be 35 weeks pregnant! My doctor has approved my trip. My question is this: is there a way to get a special parking placard for my stay? My doctor has written me a formal note explaining my situation. He seems to think if I present it to the right people down there, I will be able to get a temporary parking pass for handicapped or special parking. The problem is the walking-I have trouble walking far due to being so pregnant. Just curious what I can do. And no, I'm not canceling my trip. I can hardly wait to get back to OC for the first time in 8+ years!

first of all, congratulations!  There are no special parking areas for pregnant people unless you have a handicap sticker, but parking is plentiful and it is easy to drop one off if the parking lot is crowded.

I'm traveling from Ocean City, Maryland to Lewes, DE to BWI airport this weekend and am looking for a one-way car rental but none of the shore locations seem to offer this under Enterprise...any other options? Buses or anything that operate in the area? Appreciate the help, I always summered there as a child but never had to worry with the trusty family minivan at my fingertips.

How do I do a successful spring break in Ocean City? Since I'm in Florida, mine is from March 16th to 23rd. Will it be spring break for everyone else up there too? Where do I stay if I don't have a car? Is it advisable to bring someone else? I used to live in MD but it's been a while. Help would be GREATLY appreciated, because this is my senior year and I'd like to do something this time =]

I would not recommend OC for spring break if you are looking for a Florida/Caribbean style vacation.  The water and beach are way to cold for swimming and/or tanning.  There will only be handful of boardwalk stores open and only about 1/3 of the restaurants/bars are open.  Getting around would also be hard since there are fewer public transportation options in the Spring.

My advice is to plan a bomb-diddily vacation once you graduate in May/June.  By then OC is a fun, happinging place with lots to do.

I'm planning a vacation to Ocean City the last week in October-first week in November. What is there to do that time of year in the way of tours, museums, sightseeing, etc.(other than outlet mall shopping)?

The tour boats and amusements will be closed, but mini golf and the boardwalk shops will be open. We go every year for Thanksgiving week and find plenty to do. We often go bowling or see a movie when we are down there at this time of year. Some other fun things to do that are off the beaten path:

Take one or both of the two self guided walking tours of historic properties in OC.

Got to Assateague to see the horses. Be sure to stop at the Visitor's Center.

Checkout the Delmarva Discovery Museum.

Go to the Salisbury Zoo - it's free!

Do some shopping at the interesting shops in nearby Berlin.

If you like World War II history, visit Fort Miles - it is about 35 miles away at the mouth of the Delware Bay in Lewis, DE. They have restored some of the coastal defenses and you can go up in one of the towers and get a great view of the ocean and the bay.

Have a great trip to OC in November!

Is a fishing license needed to surf fish?

Yes, if you are over 16 you need a license to surf fish in Maryland. If you fish from a commercial pier (the Ocean Pier or the Oceanic Pier), boat, or many rental boats those businesses often have licenses that will cover your group.

You can buy 7-day licenses ($6 if a MD resident, $12 if not) or annual licenses good for all of 2012 ($5 to $22.50).

Oyster Bay Tackle is a great source of fishing information and gear in Ocean City. The also have some good information on fishing licenses here. They also sell fishing licenses or you can buy them online.

Hope you catch something big in OC!
