Where can I find a list of parking lots (Public and Private) where I can park a car from Sunday, August 19 to Thursday morning, August 23?

A list of parking lots with rates and locations can be found here:  http://ococean.com/travel-tools/parking-information

Most of these lots have time limits. However, you can park on the side streets north of 10th Street for free and leave your car there for long periods of time. We left a car in place for over a week last month with no issues. The side streets are a safe place to leave a car. I've parked on them often and never had an issue.

I would like to bicycle from Ocean City (staying on boardwalk) to Assateague. How far is it and are the roads taken heavy traffic in Sept? Once at Assateague, are there bike trails?

It's about 10 miles to Assateague.  Getting across the drawbridge can be challenging but, once you get to route 611 there is a bike lane which takes you to Assteague. Here is the best route:

Cross the Route 50 bridge and turn left on Golf Course Rd, there is a stop light there.
Turn right on Sunset Ave(about 1 mile), this will take you to route 611. Turn left on 611 and you're on your way to Assateague! Take bug spray with you too.

Thank you for the quick and insightful answer Karl S I have another question re beach wheelchairs. I found I could reserve one at oc visitor ctr or police dept i dont believe it will fit in my SUV pathfinder. Do u know of any transport svc to p/u & deliver chair to quality inn @33st and then return it when I leave?

My bet is that a beach wheelchair will fit in a Pathfinder if you put the seats down, but call the OCPD to get their opinion. You can reach them at 410.723.6610. You may also want to check with the Quality Inn; they may be able to arrange transport of the chair in one of their vehicles.

You can also get a chair on a first-come-firt-serve basis at 30th Street See the lifeguard to access the chair.

Also, check with PMI rental. They may rent beach wheelchairs and they do deliver. You an reach them at 800.320.7469.

Have a great trip to OC! Come back if you have more questions!

Are the beaches closed currently in oc?

The beaches are not closed. The beaches are open year round everyday. The beaches are closed for cleaning and maintenance everyday from midnight to 5am, and are closed on occasion for weather related issues (usually thunderstorms and only for a few hours or so), but other than that they are always open.

All 10 miles of OC's beaches are accessible, public, guarded (until 23 September this year) and free!

Is it possible to set up a table and hand out brochures and flyers for our paranormal investigative team? We would also be raffling off a gift.

Where are you wanting to set this table up? Checking with the Chamber of Commerce would probably be your best bet.

Hi. The Econo lodge that I know is up near 145th street. It is very far from amusements but it is a nice, well kept property too and many people stay there yr after yr. The motel has a cafe too and is just a good property right by the ocean. There are great eateries, shops and miniature golf all near it and stores and ofcourse there are many amusements down the other side of town say 45th street and below on Coastal highway and the other amusements are all the way near 3rd and ofcourse the boardwalk. When you go out driving you will see other things close by.  When you check in pick up the coupon books OC offers to us. Have a great time.

Can you BBQ on the beach?

You are not allowed to grill or have fires on Ocean City's beaches without a permit.

This document provides more information on the regulations and how to apply for a bonfire permit. Although the document focuses on bonfires, it applies to grilling and cooking on the beach too. There is a $75 fee for the permit plus a $100 deposit that is refunded only if the Fire Marshall's inspection indicates the area was cleaned up and all fire related material was removed from the site.

I am interested in booking a weekend getaway for my wife and I this winter, perhaps February. Can you please let me know what the weather is like then and if there are enough shops, etc. open?

I often go to the beach in February. It can be cold and windy, but I still usually manage to get a walk on the boardwalk or beach in. I always find something to do!

There are some shops open on the boardwalk on the weekends, especially if the weather is nice. Shops generally do not have fixed hours in February, and they tend to open when the weather is nice and the crowds are larger. Some restaurants are open year round, particularly on weekends. I always stop at the Visitor's Center at the Convention Center and pickup their list of places that are open with their hours and specials. President's Day weekend and the weekend closest to Valentines Day are a bit busier down there.

You could drive or take the Assateague Explorer. Driving will be cheaper and you could also spend a day on the beach over there. Bring bug spray with you, I always take Off because the mosquitoes can be bad. If you drive, turn on route 611 which is right of route 50. There will be signs for it, if you are headed East towards OC, 611 will be on your right.
