Does OC still permit the use of the 12' x 12' tents or canopy's on the beach. I know some resorts do not allow these any longer. We used our last year, but hearing different rumors from people. Can't wait to get there August 4th.

You should be fine with this canopy. The lifeguards have final discretion about all beach equipment, including canopies and umbrellas, but as long as you set it up behind (west of) the lifeguard stands you should be fine.

Have a great trip!

Hello, me and my family are coming down for the week of Aug 18-25th. We usually come during July when it is packed with travelers, but this was the only available time that worked for all of us this year. Is it usually still bustling with people during this week? We are looking forward to being around a ton of other people enjoying OCMD as we do and hope it's not nearly a ghost town by then with kids going back to school in the weeks to follow.

Oh it will be busy, perhaps not quite as busy as the middle of July, but certainly not a ghost town either.  When my daughter was a toddler this was when we came down and we loved taking advantage of the lower lodging rates and that everything is still open.

Where can I park to access the northern beach in Ocean City. We are new to the area.

If you check out the streets along the bayside you will most likely be able to find a spot for free with only a block or two to walk to the beach.  Just be sure to check for any signs so you don't get towed.

The closest commercial airport is Salisbury Airport (SBY).  US Air flies their at least twice daily.  It is 45 minutes from OC.  Bayrunner Shuttle - www.bayrunners.com - has car service to Ocean City.

Your best bet is PMI Rentals - (410) 250-1251.  Cribs are $26 a week.  Bring your own linens for the crib.

We will be staying in OC for 2 weeks starting on July 21st, I just saw the forecasted weather and it announces thunderstorms practically for the whole week first week of our stay. How has the weather been this week in OC? Should I be planning a lot more indoor activities and bring plenty of umbrellas?

Beach weather is very fickle and can change quickly.  Full out rainy days are rare in OC in the summer, most likely you will get some storms and a chance to enjoy Mother Nature's fireworks as an added bonus to your vacation!

Any idea how bad the traffic will be on a friday if I leave West Chester, Pa around 4:00? Google maps has been telling me 3hrs 15 mins with traffic, but i figured and insider would know better. We're taking 202 out of Pa to rt1 to 113 to 90. Is this the best way? What road do you think I will hit the most traffic on besides 202 in DE?

The route you describes is the best one and the time sounds about right. I assume you are leaving at 4pm. If that is the case you will hit some traffic in the Wilmington area (although Routes 202 and 1 may be far enough from there that you will be okay)  and then again in Dover. Traffic on 113 and 90 should not be too bad. If you meant 4am you should not have any traffic at all!

Where can you rent a golf cart for a week in Berlin md or ocean city md?

I am not aware of any places that will rent to you a golf cart and allow you take the cart off site. All of OC's golf courses have carts for use on the course and Frontiertown also rents carts to campers to use while they are staying there.

Have fun in OC!

What month does the boardwalk shut down? I am planning a trip end of sept.

The boardwalk is open year round. Even if January on a sunny weekend day some of the shops will be open!

At the end of September most of the shops, restaurants, and other attractions are still open. The large amusement parks will be closed (although sometimes pier rides opens for a few hours on nice weekend in September) and most of the tour boats and some of the smaller motels will have shut down. Other than that most things around town are open into mid October.

September is a great time to visit OC! Have a great time!

Do the beaches in ocean city offer beach goers beach umbrellas or does the visitor have to bring their own.

You can bring your own or rent an umbrella while in OC. You can rent from any of the rental boxes along the beach. They are generally blue or white boxes just to the east of the sand dunes and are spaced every block or two. You can't miss them. Umbrellas are about $15 a day or $67 a week. The attendant will setup and take down for you. Below is a picture of one of these boxes from 2011 and list of prices from the box at 65th Street from a couple of summers ago. Prices vary a little season to season and vendor to vendor, but not a lot.

Have a great time in OC!
