Can you crab from the pier?

You probably are allowed to crab form the ocean pier, but likely you won't have much luck. Some good places to crab are the bulkhead along the bay between 2nd and 4th Street along Chicago Avenue, the 9th Street Pier, and the Pier at Northside Park (127th Street). All of these places are free to crab and fish. You can also crab from the pier at the Isle of Wight Recreation area between the two Route 90 bridges.

You do not  need a license to crab with a line or crab traps, but you do need one to fish from these locations. More info on licenses can be found here.

On what st. is the big fishing pier?

The ocean fishing pier is at Wicomico Street, about 5 blocks north of the inlet at the south end of town. The Oceanic Pier is a commercial pier on the bay near at the inlet. Since these are commercial piers you pay a fee to use them, but I do not believe you need a fishing license.

There are public piers on the bay along Chicago Avenue from 2nd toi 4th Street (more of a bulkhead) and at Northside Park at 127th Street. These are free, but you need a fishing license.

Ocean City is a great option. Kids love all there is to do in OC, and there are lots of free events. The entire beach is public, guarded, clean, and free. You can get a great list of free events including concerts, weekly fireworks, laser shows here. Another list can be found here.

You can get information on deals on accommodations and restaurants from Rodney Saves.

Here are a few lodging options I recommend. I''ve provided a mix to suit your needs and budget:

Courtyard by Marriott at 15th Street is ocean front on the boardwalk. New property built about 3 years ago with lots of amenities including ocean front and ocean view rooms with small balconies and an indoor pool. http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/sbyoc-courtyard-ocean-city-oceanfront/.

Holiday Inn Suites at 17th Street is right on the boardwalk. Many rooms are ocean front with balconies. The hotel has lots of amenities including indoor and outdoor pools. http://www.ocsuites.com/

Dunes Motel is at 27th Street, right at the north end of the boardwalk right at the tram station. It is an ocean front hotel with many ocean front rooms with balconies. It is a great, affordable ocean front motel. It also has rooms with balconies that face the bay. They have an outdoor pool. http://www.ocdunes.com/

Dunes Manor is a couple of blocks north of the boardwalk at 28th street, all rooms are ocean front with balconies. This is one of my favorite properties in OC, and the place I always recommend. My family stays there often. Their rooms have small kitchen areas, but are more like traditional hotel rooms than suites. They have adjoining rooms. They have an indoor/outdoor pool that is open year round.  http://www.dunesmanor.com/

Quality Inn and Suites
at 33rd street has nice ocean front rooms with balconies and indoor and outdoor pools. http://www.qualityinn.com/hotel-ocean_city-maryland-MD063

The Castle in the Sand at 37th street is a great midtown location. The hotel is ocean front, but they have several building and all types of rooms. They have lots of amenities including an outdoor pool. http://www.castleinthesand.com/home.php

Atlantic Budget Oceanfront at 45th street was just renovated and is a nice ocean front property. They have an outdoor pool. The insiders toured this hotel last month, and it is very nice. They reopen in early May. http://www.ocatlantic.com/

Holiday Inn Ocean Front
(67th Street) is a great ocean front property with a large pool and lots of amenities including indoor and outdoor pools and tennis courts. My family as stayed there many times. http://www.holidayinnoceanfront.com/

Princess Royal at 94th Street. I stayed here last spring. It is very nice and has lots of amenities.: http://www.princessroyale.com/

Some great places that are ocean block are listed below. These places will be more affordable than the ocean front ones listed above.

The Spinnaker is right off the boardwalk at 18th Street (ocean block). It is a great property, and being ocean block it  will be bit more affordable. All rooms have balconies with a view of the beach and ocean. They have an outdoor pool. http://www.ocmotels.com/spinnaker/

Sahara
, 19th Street on the boardwalk with ocean block buildings too. A basic motel that will be clean, but will not have lots of amenities. Outdoor pool. http://www.saharamotel.com/

The Flamingo
is just north of the boardwalk at 31st Street. It is ocean block with 3 buildings and an indoor pool so it will be more affordable than the ocean front places. They have indoor and outdoor pools.  http://www.theflamingomotel.com/

Have a great time in OC this August!

From this weekend on you'll be looking at almost 100% of Boardwalk shops to be open during the week.  Hours may be a bit modest until June, but still open for business most of the day.

I see that North Side Park has grills for public use. Am I allowed to bring my own table-top grill? I have both a gas and a charcoal table-top. Are there any other parks where I can do thi? Thanks!

I looked up town ordinances and found this:
"No fires of any kind which include barbeque grills, hibachis, gas fired grills, liquid propane, gas stoves, or any similar apparatus or bonfires shall be permitted on the beach or other public property without a permit from the Fire Marshall, except those public properties which provide grilling areas which are leased for private usage."

Northside has nice grills right beside the pavillions. Just bring your foil and charcoal!

It really depends where you stay. You can sepnd between $650 and $3000, with an average probably around $1750. Some examples are:

A week at the Dunes Manor (ocean front, one of my recommended places) is between $1273 and $2688.

A week at the Dunes, another solid ocean front place, is $825 and up.

A week at the Beachmark, a basic ocean block motel midtown is about $740.

In addition, there is 10.5% tax on rooms in OC.

Have a great week in OC!

Does Ocean City offer seasonal parking passes? If so, where can they be used?

Ocean City does not offer seasonal parking passes for there public parking lots. Be aware that north of about 10th Street most street parking is free and there are generally places avbalable. You can also park at Northside Park (127th bayside), the Convention Center and the lot just south of the Convention Center for free.

Hi there! I will be coming to OC the second week in August! Coming down with the family and wanted to play some golf. Is there any way to find other golfers to play with when I get there?

Your best bet is to call the courses where you want to play. They may be able to link you up with some other players who are looking to put together a foursome. You can get a list of OC golf courses with links to there webpages and phone numbers here.
