What are the average ocean temps for the summer?

In early July the average ocean water temperature on Ocean City is 67°F. It gets up to an average of 71°F in late July thorough August and drops down to an average of 66°F by late September. However, this summer likely will be warmer. The average for late April is about 50°F, and the water is currently at 56°F (on 30 April 2012).

Will the boardwalk shops be open up the week of may 10-14th?

If the weather is nice, they are open on the weekends all year (just with limited operating hours).  We have been in OC in October, November, December, March, April, May, June, August, and never ran into a case where we could find nothing open on the boards.

May 10th week - most places will be open - however operating hours may be limited still during the week.

Thank you,

I also thought it was worth noting you can get a daily tram pass on the boardwalk as well for $6.  See info below on the following site:  http://ococean.com/travel-tools/getting-around-oc

Check out various dates on www.ocisfree.com.  Not only will you get the current pricing, specials, and packages offered by many hotels, but you may be eligible for FREE certificates for restaurants, attractions, and activities to help stretch those vacation dollars.

A couple of my family's favorite boardwalk hotels are Quality Inn Boardwalk, Holiday Inn Suites, Tidelands Caribbean, or Monte Carlo.

Have a great time!

We will be in Ocean City over the Memorial Day weekend and we are interested in music and dancing to 50-60 music. Is there a place we can go? Thanks

In the past, Jordan's Rooftop which is now the Skyline Bar has had 50s music.  It is on the top floor of the Fenwick Inn on 138th ST.  I saw on the web where they do have jitterbug dancing, 50's music, and Carolina Beach music on Wednesday nights from 5:30-9pm.  Just a quick fun fact about American Bandstand's Dick Clark: During the middle decades of the 20th Century, Dick Clark was drawn to Delmarva, where he once had a wife and beach home.  In the 1940s, he’d visit his first wife, Barbara Mallery, whom he married in 1952, when she was enrolled at the Salisbury State Teachers College.
In the ‘50s and early ‘60s, Clark rented a cottage north of 120th Street in Ocean City from real estate developer Jim Caine.

Can you rent beach chairs anywhere for the week?

From Memorial Day weekend until September there will be boxes to rent chairs and other beach equipment every couple of blocks along the entire beach. In some areas these stands may open before Memorial Day weekend. Below is a picture of one these stands with some rates:

These prices are from a stand around 67th Street from last summer. Prices may vary a little bit from stand to stand, but not a lot. Here is another rate card from 2010:

If you are going to be there for the week it likely be cheaper to buy inexpensive chairs from Sunsations or another one of the shops around town.

Have a great time on the beach!

You can pick up a Visitor Guide anywhere in town, at the Convention Center on 40th St. or at any of the malls around town. I doubt if you would get it in the mail soon enough.

To get the Ocean City Coupon Book for $10, go here: http://www.oc-coupon.com/

You will also want to pick up the free Sunny Day Guide when you get to town as well. That's the one with all the coupons in. But you can also find them online and print them off from home at http://sunnydayguide.com/ocean_city/

Be sure to check Ocean City's official webpage for specials and event updates at www.ococean.com

I'm not sure which boat tours will be running then, but if it's open, take him on the Duckaneer. It's a pirate ship and I think both of you will have a great time!  www.theduckaneer.com

Your best bet it to checkout the classified sections of the local papers. Here are links to two of them:
