You can always walk out on the pier at Northside park and watch the sunset.  It's very romantic.

We are planning a trip to OC for our first family vacation with our son Chase, who will be a year old on 7/1. We're looking at early June but were curious about hotels in a reasonable price range that were best for children his age - quiet at night, heated pool(s), etc.... I have a few leads but would appreciate your expert insight :)

I want to live and work in Ocean City Maryland. I have some hospitality experience working at hotels and resorts and also in bars and restaurants. I also have 10 years experience as front desk receptionist. That FT year round job that I would need to obtain before I even get there is illuding me. I have my youngest son who is 14 that would be coming with me and it would be a new start for us if we could just get there and make it work.

Like Savas said, full time work is more of a challenge to find, but not impossible.  You may need to consider working two part time jobs....one place to look for employment is Craig's List.  Unfortunately you just missed out on the job fair in March; the link below provides information and if you are not successful, you can always check this event out in 2013.  Best of luck to you!

To come from Baltimore you will need to drive north on 95 and cross over the north end of the Bay. Then go east to Delaware Route 1 and take it south.Either take it to the DE beaches or get off on 113 and take 113 to Route 90 to OC. You will avoid the Bay Bridge, but will still have other bridges to cross.

You should know that the Maryland Transportation Authority offers a service that will drive you car across the bridge. It is run by a private companies and there is a fee. Call 410.295.8150 or 410.537.6610 for more information on this service.

Have a great trip!

Comment on - 1.  Jolly Rogers ( 410-289-4902 ) - not only can they provide a group rate for the water park, mini golf, go karts, etc., but offers catering services as well.

2.  Hotels - many hotels have group planners that would be happy to assist you in organizing your family fun day.  So whichever hotel you are staying, give them a call and ask if they have a group planner.

3.  Town of OC - with 45 people contact the Tourism office to see if they can assist in planning your event.

Hope this provides a few suggestions to aid in your planning.  Have a wonderful Family Fun Day!

Jolly Roger's does well with big group events.  I think you would enjoy this idea tremendously.

How long of a drive is it from New York city and what is the best route to get there?

If you are coming from NYC, you would hit quite a few areas of traffic.  It might be useful to leave at like 3am in the morning to arrive in time for a nice Ocean City breakfast.

Weather is so hard to predict but May is when days seem to get hot and nights are still on the cool side with a nice breeze coming from the ocean. Days are between 65 - 80 degrees as nights tend to be around 45 55 degrees.

Your safest bet is the Municipal Lot on 110th.  It's goning to cost you either way, but the fee there is cheaper than a parking citation.

That's Cruisin' OC weekend and everything will be open on the boards. Use these sites to check for hotels:
www.ococean.com/rodney-saves/accomodations
www.ocisfree.com
www.ocean-city.com
If you haven't found a hotel yet, you may have a hard time since everyone wants to stay on the boardwalk to watch the daily car parades in the mornings.  But it's a great weekend to visit.  Check out the main car show at the Inlet, and the shows at the Convention Center and Hooters.  Lots of fun.
