When does the boardwalk open up? Thinking of coming down for a few days in April, the 11th thru the 13th? What is open and what is there to do? I have a 12 year old and want to do fun things, thanks.

Many places throughout OC are open year round - such as the indoor mini-golf, restaurants, hotels, etc.  As for the boardwalk, some of the stores and attractions will not open until the 1st week of May for Springfest, however many have already started opening Thur - Sun for the weekend travelers.

A 12 year old will probably enjoy the mini-golf, arcades (several on the boards), or even a game of laser tag at Planet Maze.

Have a great mini-vacation!

Hi! I am vacationing here for the first time this summer and was looking into renting a house around 7th St and Philadelphia Ave. I don't know the area and wondered if it is in a good location. What is a must-do activity while I'm down there? Can anyone give me some tips to key things about Ocean City?

This a good location be to around all the action of the Boardwalk. It will be noiser at night than some locations as this is a major thoroughfare for car and foot traffic. If you want action and convenience, it is a good location. I would ensure you have parking at the house, as street parking can be hard.

Must do activities: eat at Seacrets, Fish Tales, and Dead Freddies (eat outside); lay mini-golf; spend a day and evening on the Boardwalk; walk the beach; take a trip to Assateague Island; and dance the night away at Seacrets.

I am planning a trip in aug or sept. Which month should I go and will the shops be open? What hotels are on the boardwalk?

I think this depends upon what you are looking for.  In August, OC is in full swing.  There are lots of tourists, people are trying to squeeze in the last rays of summer sun before heading back to school.  On the plus side everything is open.

After Labor Day, some businesses shut down, such as the ones offering water sports.  Some hotels close and a few restaurants close as well.  But the weather is still really nice, the ocean warm, and September is a great time to come if you are looking for some quiet.

Does anyone know if Northside Park is having an Easter Egg hunt this year? And what weekend are they having it?

How are the water temps in late may? Too cold for toddlers to enjoy the ocean?

As the others have said, it is too cold for swimming without wetsuits, but a great alternative would be to book a hotel or condo with an indoor pool.  Toddlers generally aren't picky; they are happy wherever you take them and I have yet to meet a toddler who didn't love a good romp in a pool. :)  Have a great trip!

Since you mention there are toddlers, I am assuming there may be some nap times and/or early bed times involved....I have young children myself and as frequent travelers to OC, we find it helpful to stay in a condo or a hotel set up like a one bedroom condo. (The Princess Royale and Holiday Inn have great accommodations when traveling with kids)  If you are looking for a condo, I would check out www.cbvacations.com or www.lfvacations.com.

Have a great trip!

With the weather so warm in March this year, are there people swimming at the beaches yet? How about the pools at the hotels? Are they full?

I was just there the first weekend in March and got to watch some very talented surfers catching some waves.  They were in wet suits, but it looked like they were having a grand time out there.  As for the pools, they won't open up most likely until May.

I see that Horseback riding is allowed on the beach until March 30th. Are there horses available to rent?

Ocean City does not provide horses for rent. You would have to make arrangements with a local stable to have one brought to you. The cost to ride on the beach is $20. I don't know if the stable has an additonal charge.
