It is much cheaper and easier to rent a car then rely on public transportation. There are several airport rental companies that will rent one-way with drop-off in Berlin or Salisbury.

Are there any pavilions or groups of picnic tables, or anywhere good for holding a wedding reception outside by the water?

Most parks in Ocean City have pavilions that can be rented. They are nice, but I would check them out to see if they meet your needs. If you wanted to rent space, MR Ducks has a wonderful outside patio, as does Galazy 66.  Both can be used when you have your reception their. The Clarion and Carousel hotels are two other venues with nice outside accomodations.

Hi there. We are planning a trip to OC for Thanksgiving this year. Can you tell me please if things are generally open or closed at that time of year? I'm concerned about dining, amusements, shopping, etc. Thanks!

I have been in OC for Thanksgiving for the past several years. We usually arrive late Tuesday (too late for Dinner) and stay until Late Saturday evening or Sunday morning. We always find plenty to do. We have 4 kids ages 9 to 16.

Some things we do:
1. Go bowling on 72nd Street
2. Go to a movie in OC (or Salisbury)
3. Walk on the beach and boardwalk. We always do this, but usually in November it is still nice enough to spend a fair amount of time outside.
4. One year it was warm enough for my kids to go in the Ocean!
5. Go to the Winterfest of lights. We get there near the end of the time they are open on Thursday or Friday. If you get there the first hour or so the line gets long
6. Eat at some of our favorite places. Here are a just of few of the many that that are open: Lombardis, Harborside, Captains Galley, Harborwatch (sometimes closed), Phillips, Victoria Room at Dunes Manor, BJs, Harpoon Hannas, Marina Deck in Ocean Pines. Many resteraunts have traditional Thanksgiving meals or buffets on the holiday.
7. Enjoy the shops on the Boardwalk and at the outlets. Usually lots of great bargains and most of them are open on Friday and Saturday.
8. If the weather is decent most boardwalk shops will be open on the weekend and may on Friday too. Thrashers Fries, Fisher's Popcorn, Marty's Playland, Dumser's Dairyland, Ocean Gallery, and plenty of shops are all generally open Thanksgiving weekend.

Have a great Thanksgiving in OC! Maybe I'll see you there!

When is the Job Fair in OC happening at the Convention Center this year?

Comment on - Do be aware that the St. Patrick's Day parade will be going on that day as well.  The festivities are located in the 45th St. area and the Convention Center is on 40th.  There will be traffic in the area!

My advice is to go early and arrive via RT 50 instead of RT 90.  It will make the drive alot smoother.  If you get caught in the parade traffice you will be going nowhere fast.

My daughter may be going to Ocean City for Senior Week. Do you still have the arm bands and fun activities planned to keep them busy and safe while they are visiting Ocean City? Luckily, she is one of the students that wants to have fun and isn't there for the partying. What are the dates? and can you send me any information please?

Hello. it depends on when the student graduates. It could be any week from June 10,th right thru June 24th. There is no specific week because students from all over the east Coast graduate at different times and head to Ocean City, MD or The New Jersey beaches to relax. But here is a website to help www.playitsafeoceancity.com or call this number 1-410-632-1100 for more info. There is also a huge air show that brings many families as well and that June 9 and 10. Also an Arts and Crafts show the following weekend. But call the number I gave you as well.

How far is oc from boston on a bus?

It is about 470 miles from Boston, MA to Ocean City, MD. It takes about 8 to 9 hours by car. I'd estimate it is generally a 10 to 12 hour bus trip depending on how many stops your route has. Have fun in OC!

We will be staying in Ocean Pines. How far are we from the beach?

Depending upon where you are in Ocean Pines I would estimate approximately 10-20 minutes to reach Ocean City.  Then it would simply be drive time once you enter Ocean City to whichever street you wish to hit the beach.

Personal suggestion - choose one of the beach areas above 33rd Street you should be able to find free side street parking without any trouble.

Thank you,
Anna G.

I heard that many of the businesses at the Boardwalk are closed during the "off season". I am considering a vacation in late March. Will there be open restaurants, etc. to enjoy? Also, while there, I would like to visit Washington DC for a day trip. Are there any organized bus tours that I could sign up for ahead of time?

Ocean City is 10 miles long and the boardwalk only takes up 2.5 miles of the beach side of it.  So you will have no problem whatsoever finding bars and restaurants open all over town and in West Ocean City as well.  And you can shop, play mini golf indoors at 68th and 136th St, play laser tag, go ice skating, go to movies, and just plain explore! We have museums and a library as well!
As for bus tours, Greyhound does come to Ocean City, but you would have to check their schedules for any busses that would run for just one day.
