Hi, I am planning to visit ocean city during this spring break at the end of March, but I know that the temperature is a little bit low at this time. So I am wondering whether there are some interesting activities here. Thanks a lot!
I will be in OC that same week and have often been there at that time of year. There are lots of interesting things to do.
Assuming the weather is nice about 40% of the boardwalk shops at the south end will be open on the weekend. Less than 20% will be open weekdays. Boardwalk favorites Thrasher's Fries, Dumser's ice cream, Fisher's popcorn (my favorite!), Candy Kitchen , and Marty's Playland are almost always open on the weekends and kids love all of them. Marty's is open pretty much everyday.
Here are a few ideas of other things to do, most of these things are open all week
Go bowling at 72nd Street Ocean Lanes. Call ahead to check for lane availability (410.524.7550), and be aware they take cash only.
Play indoor mini golf at one of the two Old Pro Indoor Courses
Play Laser Tag at Planet Maze.
Go shopping at the shops in nearby Berlin
If it is a warm day, checkout some WWII history at Fort Miles in Lewis, DE.
Go Ice Skating or see an ice skating show at the Carousel
Go to the Salisbury Zoo - It is about 30 miles away. It is a nice community zoo, and it is free!
Get some crabs from Crabs-to-Go or Bahama Mamas to feel a bit more like summer. Both of these places have excellent crabs year round.
Take a trip down to Assateague to see the ponies. Be sure to stop at the Visitor's Center.
Many restaurants are open year round, but some only on weekends. If you go to the Visitor's Center at the Convention Center, they usually have a list of what restaurants are open when for the off season. Most restaurants in large hotels are open year round.
It is always nice to stay at a place with an indoor pool - it can be great to get a chance to swim in the winter. Dunes Manor has an indoor/outdoor pool that my kids swam in last Christmas when there was snow on the outside deck area! The other major hotels will be open and all have indoor pools. These include the Clarion, Carousel, and new Hampton Inn.
Have a great Spring Break in OCMD!

Can you rent a horse to ride on the beach in winter/early spring? If so, where can I find one.
Permit applications are now available to persons wishing to ride horses on Ocean City’s beach. Applications can be obtained from the City Clerk’s Office in City Hall at 301 Baltimore Avenue or online at www.oceancitymd.gov.
The cost is $20 for a single-day permit and $50 for a seasonal permit. Horseback riding will be allowed on the beach beginning at 27th Street and extending south to the Inlet jetty between the hours of 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. November 1 to March 30.
You will need to contact a local stable to make arrangements to have a horse brought to the beach for you.

Looking for a beach location for a September wedding. Are there any gazebos or other locations that may offer shelter from rain if necessary.
There are no gazebos or any beach buildings on the ocean side of Ocean City. However if you work with a hotel like the Clarion Fontainbleau, they may be willing to work with you to have a tent or something put up for the ceremony if needed. The Clarion is exceptional at planning weddings and receptions.
Another popular hotel for beach style weddings is the Princess Bayside Hotel on the bay. They have a small beach area on the bay for sunset weddings.
Be sure to check all the requirements for getting married on the beach in Ocean City. You will need a Worcester County marriage license, and to get married on the beach you will also need to fill out a form with City Hall. There is no fee for this form and you can fill it out by email. Contact Jenny Morris at jmorris@oceancitymd.gov

We will be visiting oc this summer and I was wondering is there any hotels that offer daycare for a now 3 month old baby? If not hotel what about a daycare in oc or the island that will watch him for a few hours only one day? Thanks for all your help.
I am not aware of any hotels that offer this service. However, there are services around that offer daycare services.
I have never used this service, so I
can't vouch for how good it is, but there is a service, care.com, that
lists babysitters and their qualifications in the OC area. You can
access it here: http://www.care.com/child-care-ocean-city-md-babysitters-p1049-q1996289.html

What are my chances of finding a job at the job fair? Do any businesses hire before/after the job fair? I've been to Ocean city recently and have tried to apply places but alot of restaurants and businesses are not open. When would be best to apply?
Yes, lots of people find jobs at the job fair - that is why it has been held for so many years. Ocean City has lots of seasonal staff in a wide range of businesses. Although businesses are closed until Spring, many of them use the job air as a chance to hire. They are often still answering their phones, responding to messages, and checking email. You can also try mailing them a resume or request for consideration. It is best to apply as soon as possible.
Some other possible sources of connections to both jobs and properties:
(1) Work with the Chamber of Commerce - You already know about the Job Fair at the end of March, but you can find out more about it here.
(2) Connect with the International Student Center - They help lots of international students find jobs and housing in OC and likely can help you too. You can reach them at 410.289.0350.
(3) Watch the classified sections of Maryland Coast Dispatch and Ocean City Today. Both of these have jobs and seasonal hosing listings.
(4) Watch the Eastern Shore Craigslist jobs section - lots of people connect to OC jobs through that site
Good luck in your search!

What is the purpose of the 7 foot poles on the beach?
Not sure what poles you're referring to unless you mean the poles that the volleyball nets are attached to in the summer. Those are the only poles I know of.

I have a pastor already and marriage license already do i need anything else I just want to get married on beach and its only going to be about 8 people.
You need permission from the city to get married on the beach. There is no fee, but you do need to fill out a form beforehand.
You can call City Hall at 410-289-8221 or email Jenny Morris at City Hall at jmorris@oceancitymd.gov and do it by email.
They need to know beforehand to let beach patrol and OC police know what's going on.
Congratulations!!

How far is Nothside Park on 127th to the busy boardwalk?
The boardwalk ends on 27th St. and Northside Park is approximately 100 blocks north. About 7 miles. But if you're heading for the boardwalk for the rides and arcades, add another 2 miles because they're all located below 1st St.

What streets does the Boardwalk run from and to?
The Ocean City, Md. boardwalk runs 2.5 miles from south to north. It begins at the inlet, continues north up Atlantic Avenue (the boardwalk) over about 8 named streets (Caroline, Somerset, North Division St, etc) and then begins numbered streets from 1st to 27th St. and then ends. Ocean City and the beach continues from there for another 7.5 miles. So you see, the boardwalk is only a small part of OC.

I have been to OC many times but always in the middle of the summer. The wife and i are planning a trip there the first week of September. Typically what kind of weather can we expect that late in the season. Also is there much going on that late and will everything still be open.
That is absolutely the BEST time to go for me. Kids are back in school, the town is much quieter, and the weather is ideal and the water at its warmest.
The boardwalk rides will be closing down then, but all of the boardwalk stores and restaurants will be open. In honesty, about the only things closed then will be the rides during the week. Most everything else remains open for a couple of more weeks.
Sept. 7 is the Brews on the Beach Craft Beer Festival at Hooper's Crab House in West Ocean City from noon to 5 p.m. There will be over 100 beers to sample and live entertainment.
Personally, I love this time of year. I think you'll find that you do too.
