What is the length of the boardwalk?

The Boardwalk, officially known as Atlantic Avenue, dates back to 1902, when several oceanfront hotel owners got together and constructed a wooden walkway for the convenience of their guests. At high tide, it was rolled up and stored on hotel porches. Around 1910, a permanent promenade was built. It ran about five blocks and was expanded to 15th Street in the 1920's.

After being leveled by a storm in March of 1962, it was rebuilt to its present 2.5 mile length, ending at 27th Street.

There is a Food Lion and a Super Fresh.  Both are up on the northern end.  On Rt 54 there is Harris Teeter.  If you are in West OC there is a Food Lion on 611 and a Super Fresh on Rt 50 in the outlets.  Also there is the Minit Market on 31st.

Hi, I'm from the midwest and need some direction.

My friend has always dreamed of a clambake on the beach. Can I make that happen for her at Ocean City? Where can I get crabs and other ingredients for it? Can we cook it on the beach? Are there bonfires allowed on the beach?

Any direction would be great! Thank you.

I'm sorry, but you cannot make any kind of fires on the beach in Ocean City. I believe the closest towns that have real clambakes are Crisfield, Md and Chincoteague Va.

I have a summer home at Montego Bay. During Springfest this year, there was a certain vendor that had items I was interested in. Unfortunately, this vendor was not there for Sunfest, this past weekend. Is it possible to get a listing or a pamphlet of vendors who were at Springfest 2011? Thank you!

I would contact the Town of OC Parks & Recreation Department at 410-250-0125.  They should be able in assisting you in locating the vendor in question.

Thank you,

Does anyone know of a hotel that offers memberships for sale to use their pools?

Unfortunately I am not aware of any of the hotels offering memberships similar to a "Y".  During the summer, there are a couple hotels that have pool bars and allow customers to utilize their pool.

Thank you,

How do I get an all day bus pass?

Simply advise the bus driver that you would like to buy an all-day pass ($3) and you will receive a ticket stub.  Then each time you get on the bus, simply show the stub to your bus driver.

Thank you,

Are there still places open the weekend of 10/14?

Yes, lots of shops, restaurants, and other attractions are open that weekend. MOre will be open if the weather is nice, less if it is not nice. Thrashers, Fishers, Candy Kitchen, and many other boardwalk traditions are open year round on weekends. I've been to OC with my family, including 4 kids, many times in October and November and always have found lots to do.

Have a great time in OC!

When it says "scattered showers" for the weather, does it dry off faster around the ocean? Do you think it will just rain and then the sun will come out? Really concerned about the rain.

It is really hard to guess how the weather will be in OC. During the Dew Tour there were times when it was pouring at the inlet and dry at 64th Street. It does not dry out any faster there. Sometimes the wind speeds evaporation, but only in a negligible way. Right now it is not raining in OC at the inlet. Reports are for scattered thundershowers this weekend which usually come and go, but don't last all day.

What is the beach like at North Division St. and the boardwalk?  I'm looking at a unit above the Edwards Building, but it looks like there is a fence, and it also looks like there are some kind of lights in the sand.

This is a great area of town. There may be a snow fence up at this time of year to help keep the sand from blowing onto the boardwalk, but it will have plenty of gaps to let you through to the beach every 50 feet or so. There are some lights for the comfort station and fire department memorial at this location and some small lights a block or two north for the sand sculptor. Sometimes they set up a stage in this area near the boardwalk, but the beach is plenty wide here (twice as wide as areas north of here) and if there was one setup while you were there you would still have plenty of room on the beach.

Two of us are bringing our Mothers who are in a wheelchair and need help. Do you have any groups there who look after people that are in need so that their caretakers can have a little vacation? Thanks. joanne

I am not aware of any specific services, but suspect the provider would need to know more about your circumstances to know if they could support. I'd suggest calling either the OC Senior Center at 410.289.0824 or Atlantic General Hospital at 410.641.1100 to see if either could give you a referal to meet your needs.

There are also several care givers available who are listed under the Senior Care tab on this website. I have never used tis site so I cannot speak to the quality of these caregivers
