How do I get an all day bus pass?

The tram has an unlimited pass for $6 as well...if you are going to OC during a popular festival such as Sunfest, this is definitely the way to go if you are staying at a hotel along the boardwalk.

Are there still places open the weekend of 10/14?

There will be much open that weekend with the exception of the outdoor rides and the water parks and water sports.  If the weather is nice (which it usually is), the boardwalk will be crowded like a summer day.  You can still play miniature golf, fish, comb the beach for shells, swim in the ocean (seriously) if the waether is warm, play the arcades, shop, and dine at most of your favorite restaurants.

When it says "scattered showers" for the weather, does it dry off faster around the ocean? Do you think it will just rain and then the sun will come out? Really concerned about the rain.

The most predictable thing about the beach weather is that it is unpredictable.  For example, my sister and I were at the beach the same time.  She was 5 miles south of me and had to get off the beach due to the heavy raining.  I was sitting on the beach in the sun when I was talking to her.  Sometimes the storms come suddenly and they leave suddenly and sometimes the rain sticks around for a while.

What is the beach like at North Division St. and the boardwalk?  I'm looking at a unit above the Edwards Building, but it looks like there is a fence, and it also looks like there are some kind of lights in the sand.

This is one of the widest parts of the beach.  There's nothing between the ocean and you except for the boardwalk and the beach,  You are staying at a location that's basically walking distance to some of the most popular places in all of Ocean City.

Two of us are bringing our Mothers who are in a wheelchair and need help. Do you have any groups there who look after people that are in need so that their caretakers can have a little vacation? Thanks. joanne

I am not sure about any groups who look out for people but I can recommend a great wheelchair friendly restaurant to take them to.  At the end of the boardwalk at the Inlet is a fine restaurant called Harrsisons Harbor Watch.  As soo as you walk in, there is an elevator that can take you to the second floor where you can dine with great views of the ocean, inlet, and Assateague island.  Plus, the food and prices are great!

I will be at the ocean from October 17 through October 19. What will be open on the boardwalk?

The rides are closed.  The arcades are open, as is Ripleys Believe It or Not, the Mirror Maze, Thrashers, Dollies, Candy Kitchen and Fisher's.  The other stores are hit or miss on weekdays, but open weekends. Most restaurants are still open for dinner.

Was there a tornado on Thursday 9/15/11 around 79th Street? Any damages or injuries?

Yes, there was a tornado. It started as a waterspout in the bay and then crossed over OC at 77th Street and continued into the ocean.

The damage was minor and there were no notable injuries either. You can read about it here or see a video here.

Darlene, one of the other Insiders, was there and may have some additional pictures or information.

How much wider is the beach down at the inlet than around 25th Street? I am thinking of staying at Belmont Towers, but I can see on MapQuest that the inlet is a lot wider. What do you think? Is it twice as wide, maybe?

Just north of the pier I'dd say the beach is 2 to 3 times as wide as it is most of the rest of OC. It tapers from the pier to about 10th Street and from there north the area east of the BW and dunes is generally about the same (with seasonal changes) for most of the length of OC. Since the 1991 beach replenishment and other annual refurbishments, the sand is plenty wide the whole length of  OC. Right at the inlet the beach is about the same width as it is at 25th because of the area taken up by the parking lot.

BTW, Belmont Towers is at Dorchester Street where the beach is almost as wide as it is at the pier.
