Coming to OC at the End of August and staying at the Plim Plaza Hotel just looking for a review of the hotel? Also wondering if the Hurricane is going to hit in the OC area at all this weekend? We are heading to OC on Sunday 8-28-11. Any good things to do if it rains?

The official storm information can be found here:  http://oceancitymd.gov/Emergency_Management/

Here is the current statement from the town:

Ocean City Emergency Management officials have initiated phase one of the hurricane action plan in preparation for Hurricane Irene.

All persons desiring to travel to Ocean City are asked to postpone their visits until the existing situation improves.

Mobile home residents in Ocean City and those living in known flood-prone areas should secure their homes and prepare for possible evacuation.

Persons should secure or move all watercraft.

All persons are asked to tune into Ocean City Government Access Channel (Channel 4) for further detailed information or advisories. Updates will also be provided on recorded emergency management line, 410-723-6666, www.ocmdemergency.com and on 1670 AM.

Ocean City has also initiated evacuation of all international workforce students. All international workforce students will report to assigned transportation pick-up location. They will be transported to predetermined staging location(s). The International workforce students will then be under the jurisdiction, and become the responsibility of, the State of Maryland, by prior agreement, for further transportation and relocation.

Ocean City is expected to receive a significant impact from Hurricane Irene.

Easterly gale force winds should start affecting the area on Saturday, August 27 at 6 p.m. with storm force winds arriving around 4 a.m. and northeasterly hurricane force winds arriving near 6 a.m. The highest wind speeds from Hurricane Irene should occur near 9 a.m. when top sustained winds, from the north, could reach 90 mph with gusts near 112 mph. Winds should decrease below hurricane force shortly thereafter.

Sustained winds will fall below gale force after 3 p.m. and generally be from the north during this period of decreasing winds. Expect gusts above gale force level for several more hours thereafter.

The total rainfall for the Ocean City area over the next three days is forecast to be 9.5 inches. This can vary significantly as tropical storm and hurricane rainfall is very difficult to predict.

How do i get to OC from Aberdeen, MD?

I would go to www.mapquest.com and click on directions.  Type in your home address in the A box, your hotel address in the B box and then enter.  After that you will get a list of step by step directions in addition to a map many times with several routes to choose from.

Looking at vacation 1st week of September. What things can I do there? What cheap hotels would I have close to the beach? Are there any amusement parks there?

You  may also want to consider a condo rental...I have found them to be more economical than hotels, though you do have some set up and tear down if you bring your own sheets.  Two sites I use are www.cbvacations.com and www.lfvacations.com.   For hotel rentals, I have also had success in getting good rates with using www.priceline.com with the "name your own price" feature.

We will be visiting OC on August 28 to 31 and staying at Dunes manor thanks to some great advice, Karl S., (it's good enough for your family I'm in). Please advise on the following: I'm shopping around for the most relevant discounts/coupons. We are planning a fishing trip both by boat and off the pier not sure where as yet. We will be preparing most of our meals and need to know about local supermarket. Someone told me about a restaurante in Holiday Inn I think they said it's on 7th or 17th or 71st Street but I'm not sure I tried to search it to no avail. Supposeable the food there is the best in town. Do anyone know what I'm talking about? Thanks in advance.

For coupon discounts, pick up a Sunnyday Guide at the hotel. (they should have tons of them in the lobby as well as other brochures with coupons)

I always go to the Food Lion in West OC, right off route 50. It's a great grocery store and it's reasonably priced. You turn on route 611, it will be on the left in a plaza.

For your fishing trip, check out the Bahia Marina. It's on 22nd Street and bay, there is also a restaurant there called Fish Tales- great place for kids!

The transit bus is a public bus that runs from the inlet to 146th St. The cost is $1.00 per ride or $3.00 for a ride all day pass.  It runs on the city streets just like cars, and runs 24 hours a day.

The boardwalk tram runs on the boardwalk from the inlet to 27th St. and does not go on any city streets, just the boardwalk.  Tram fare is $3 per person, per boarding, one way ride. Discount fare punch cards are available at $20 for 8 rides. Inquire at either tram station or with a tram conductor. In the summer it runs from 10 a.m. to midnight through Labor Day, then doesn't run again until Sunfest weekend.

I live 20 minutes north of Northeast-Philadelphia PA, and i was wondering if you would get Phildelphia news channels in OCM or if its Washington-Baltimore or both?

No, the Philadelphia news channels are not shown in OC.  You will find Delmarva channels WBOC and WDMT.  And Baltimore channels WBAL (NBC affiliate)
WBFF (Fox affiliate) and WMAR (ABC affiliate).
Being from the Philly suburbs, I love not seeing our local news.  It makes me feel so far away from home!  Have a fun vacation!

I know there is a historic home somewhere in Ocean City. Can you tell me where via email? We will be there on the 24th and 25th of August. Thanks. Also, any other interesting sites and antiques, too.

Be sure to take the Historic Walking Tour of Ocean City.  You'll discover all of the beautiful architecture of old OC.  It's really fascinating. You can pick up the free tour guide at the Convention Center or around town. And be sure to stop by at City Hall. It's a stunning building filled with pictures of Ocean City in the past.  Also stop and go through the Life Saving Museum on the Boardwalk.  It too is filled with Ocean City's history.
Here's the site for more info on the walking tour:
