I am trailering a bike in for Bike Fest 2011. The motel that we are staying in has limited parking. Is there anywhere to park a van with a trailer for the weekend? Even someplace off the Grand Strand.

You will likely need to find street parking. This can be hard to find depending where you are staying. You can also park the trailer at the lot at 100th Street for $10/day.

I will be passing through OC for the day and was wondering where it was best to park and enjoy the beach for the day. Thanks

You can park in any of the public parking lots. They are all an easy walk to the beach. More information can be found here. I'd recommend parking near the inlet. There are lots of shops in this area and some rest rooms.

This thread has more information related to coming to OC for the day.

Have fun in OC!

Where can you buy hermit crabs in or around Ocean City???

You can buy them all over town . Many of the souvenir and t-shirt shops along the boardwalk sell them, especially at the south end of the boardwalk. Many of the Sunsations Stores also sell them. Often you get a free small hermit crab if you purchase the cage and supplies.

We typically visit the beach for days at a time, but this year we are going down for a day trip. My question, is there all day parking available? I have seen the parking for 2.50/hr, for up to 12 hours, .50/12min after. Is there any other parking in close proximity to the boardwalk? Thank you!

There are lots of parking lots close to the boardwalk. The inlet lot is right near the boardwalk and beach. If you park at the other public lots parking is $1/hour for up to 12 hours. There are several lots near the beach and boardwalk, you can get a complete list here (scroll to bottom of this page for list). If you go north of about 5th Street you can park on many side streets for free all day.

Have a great trip!

Do they have motorized wheelchairs or scooters for the disabled to use on the boardwalk?

You can rent them from EC Glider Segways on Somerset street. The store is right off the boardwalk on the north side of Somerset Street. They rent Rascal electric scooters as well as Segway Scooters. You can reach them at 410.430.7181 or ecglider1@mac.com

It is open 8 am until 6 pm.  There is no trailer parking available at the ramp.  You can park your trailer at the public lot on 100 street.

My best friend is getting married the weekend after next, (August 26th,) and the happy couple asked me to plan for the wedding party to come with them to stay a night in Ocean City before the honeymoon. So I am looking for a hotel that has a honeymoon suite as well as two other guest rooms for the night of August 27th. I am unfamiliar with Ocean City and did not know which Hotels would be best to look into, as there are too many to decide upon. Any advice at all would be greatly appreciated!

Try Princess Royale, Clarion Fontainebleu, Fager's Island or Coconut Malorie.  They would be my personal honeymoon suite suggestions.

On what date is the beach closed to waders/swimmers for the winter? Do the life guards stay on duty through the monthe of September? Does the boardwalk ever close?

Life guards are only on duty through Labor Day, however the beach in OC never closes.  We have been in OC in the fall, winter and spring and their are surfers in the water, people on the beach, and fisherman.

Same for boardwalk, however shop hours may vary based on weather and time of the year.  You will see some that close for the winter, however more and more are remaining open, just with reduced operating hours.

Thank you,

This is our frist time to Ocean City and we are celebrating my son's 9th birthday. We are coming from Reisterstown, MD and are just staying the day. I want to know what is the best time to get there? Where do you park? Do you need beach umbrellas and chairs? Is there an area of the beach that has more to see than another? Any other info you can provide would be appreciated.

Best time to arrive, get there early so you have a full day to enjoy all that OC has to offer.

If you have beach chairs and umbrellas at home - bring along and save a little money in renting them.

Location - I would recommend driving all the way to the Inlet and parking at the Hugh T. Cropper lot.  There is a fee to park here:
Weekday and Weekend = $2.50 per hour
                   0 - 30 minutes              Free
                   31 - 40 minutes            $1.50
                   41 - 50 minutes            $2.00
                   51 minutes - 1 hour       $2.50
Additional Time            $.50 per 12 minutes
Note: Lost tickets will result in a maximum charge of $60.

Reason is there is so much to see and do at the Inlet.  Jolly Rogers, Trimper's, arcades, food spots, and you can catch the boardwalk tram at the Inlet and ride all the way to 27th Street to see all that the boards have to offer.

Happy 9th Birthday to your Son and have a great time in OC.
