We spend $120 per night on the Boardwalk for 3 children.  Dinner runs about $100 for a family of 5.  That comes to $60 for dinner and entertainment per person, plus add another $40 for breakfast and lunch.  Figure $100 per person per day.

I am planning to stop by OC, MD on my way home from busch gardens. I will be traveling with a 5 yr old and would like to know a good beach spot to set up for the day. Needs to be close to CLEAN public restrooms and preferrebly withing walking distance to a fast lunch spot while leaving our things on the beach. Please help! Thanks

The Carousel Hotel also offers bathrooms and food service on the beach.  You can park on the street by the hotel for free.  This also tends to be a quieter spot than the Boardwalk.

Bike rental rates vary a little bit from place to place, but here is a general idea:

Regular Bike $6/hr
Recumbent Bike (the low riders): $8/hr
Surry (4 people): $20/hr
Surry (6 people): $25/hr

Some places also have daily and weekly rates.

Here is a site with a whole bunch of rental places to choose from: http://www.atlanticbreezes.com/oceancitybicycles.htm

Here are the times you can bike on the boardwalk:

When are the best times to arrive to avoid the most traffic? We are traveling from Pittsburgh to OC on Saturday 8/13, we are staying on the Boardwalk around 6th street. Any advice to avoid the traffic would be greatly appreciated.

Dial 1-877-BAY-SPAN to check on traffic on the Bay Bridge.  It is accurate and timely.

They also had a Miche vendor at Springfest who may be returning, so I would inquire about that as well.

Hello, I am deathly afraid of bridges and don't want to cross the Bay Bridge. I live near York, Pa. I know there is the Route 90 bridge that I can take into Ocean City. How long is this bridge and when's the best time to travel on the bridge? Thanks!

Our friends in Lancaster recommended the route given by Tara.  You have one bridge to cross at the end of the trip.  Ocean City is an island, so you have to cross a bridge to get here.

I just wanted to add my vote for the Clarion or Princess Hotel.    I have been to events at both locations and they were very well done!

We have our vacation booked for Frontier Town the weekend of Sunfest. But I've never been to Ocean City in late September. What is the weather usually like? Even though I'm a planner and would plan for any kind of weather. especially while camping. : )

I would bring shorts and long pants for the evenings.  It should be hot during the day and cool at night.

We are staying bayside at 120th street. How far is that from the boardwalk? How long will it take to get there? Is there public transportation to take us there? How far is the beach? Is crossing the coastal highway dangerous with kids?

The Boardwalk is about 20 minutes in non-holiday traffic.  It is an easy drive and a straight shot down Ocean Highway.  Parking is not a problem as there are several public lots and even free off-street parking.  The bus runs to the Boardwalk, but I recommend driving; it is faster and cheaper.
Cross Coastal Highway at 120th Street, at the light, and only walk with the walk signal.  I would recommend only crossing with the walk signal and at a cross walk.  We live Bayside and cross Coastal Highway often with no issues.

Can you bring a float to the beach (the type a adult can lay on in the water)?
