The answer is, it depends. Boogie Boards and similar, referred to as "soft top body boards," that are 54 inches long and shorter are allowed on OC beaches. However, if a boards is over 42 inches long, a leash is required. Specifically, the regulation states: "Soft top body boards over 42 inches will be permitted provided rider uses some means, such as an ankle leash, to attach some part of their body to said soft top body board and remains separated from other bathers by ten yards."

Note that boards with fins (or similar), skim boards, soft body boards over 54" long, and surf boards are not generally permitted during times the lifeguards are on duty (10am to 5:30pm).

Have fun boogie boarding in OC!

Are you permitted to leave your car at the park and ride for an extended period of time?

Unfortunately, no overnight parking is allowed at the West OC park and ride lot. You can park for extended periods of time on any of OC's side streets. I have done so often, and never had any issues. If you use a side street be sure to check the signs as some have time you cannot park there due to street cleaning, trash pickup, and similar.

Hi Tiffany,

Our family absolutelty positively love the movies on the beach.  The movies are always kid friendly.  Some of the past movies include Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs, Secretariat, The Avengers, Beverly Hills Chihulala, etc.  I highly reccomend it.  Now here are my suggestions.

1. Arrive before the movie starts.

2.  Bring your own popcorn and drinks.

3. Bring a beach chair and beach blankets as chairs are not provided.

4. Bring a flash light.  After the movie is over, the lights do not go on like they do in a movie theatre.  So it is very dark outside.

5. Be prepared for cool ocean breezes.  We had one cold evening last year with the temps falling in the 60's.  People were cold.  bring blankets and/or warm clothing just in case.

6. Clean up after yourselves.  Nobody likes to see trash left on the beach.

My boyfriend requires a beach wheelchair to get to the beach. Can you please let me know how I can order one for our week stay this summer?

Hi. I am thinking about coming to OC for spring break in mid April. Are a lot of places open at this time? Is it warm enough at this time of year?

I often go to OC for Spring break sometime between mid-March and late-April. This year it will be later in April. Whie the weather can vary quite a bit at this time of year, in April the days are generlly nice, and sunny enough to walk or ride a bike along the boardwalk. Obviously it is too cold (for most) to go in the wter, but there ae plenty of time when we walk alng the beach. Many businesses are open, eppecially closer to the weekends on sunny days. Here are some ideas of things to do:

Walk the boardwalk. If the weather is nice many shops will be open including boardwalk favorites Thrasher's Fries, Dumser's ice cream, Fisher's popcorn (my favorite!), Candy Kitchen. They are almost always open on the weekends and sometimes on weekdays if the weather is nice.

If the weather is nice, it is a great time of year to rent bikes and ride along the boardwalk.

Play indoor mini golf at one of the two Old Pro Indoor Courses. They are open everyday. If the weather is nice you can play the outdoor courses too.

Ride Go Carts - on nice days Baja Amusements in West OC often has a few tracks open at this time of year.

Go to an Arcade - Marty's Playland is open everyday!

Take an Old Time Photo with the group - there are a few locations around town, listed on their website.

Play Laser Tag at Planet Maze. They are currently closed Tuesday-Thursday, but may be open all week in April.

Go Ice Skating  at the Carousel.

Many restaurants and bars are open year round, but some only on weekends. If you go to the Visitor's Center at the Convention Center, they usually have a list of what restaurants are open when for the off season. Most restaurants in large hotels art open year round.

Get some crabs from Crabs-to-Go or Bahama Mamas to feel a bit more like summer. Both of these places have excellent crabs year round.

Go bowling at 72nd Street Ocean Lanes. Call ahead to check for lane availability (410.524.7550) and be aware, they take cash only.

Go see a movie.

Go to the Salisbury Zoo - It is about 30 miles away. It is a nice community zoo, and it is free!

If you have not already booked your room, I suggest selecting a place with an indoor pool - That always provides some fun and is especially great to have if the weather is not nice.

Have a great time in OC in April!

Well, I'm not quite sure what you mean by a "beach party".  There are lots of free events on the beach all summer long inculding concerts and movies on the beach.  Plus there is a bonfire held annually.

You can see all of the events planned for this summer in Ocean City at www.ococean.com/events

Who do I contact to put a name on the bench on the boardwalk?

Hi Theresa.  You need to contact the Department of Public Works in OC.  The cost for the benches is $1700.00 and includes the plaque.

http://oceancitymd.gov/Public_Works/benchdedication.html

If that's too far out of your budget, you could consider placing a brick on the boardwalk at the Fireman's Memorial.  The cost is only $100.00.

http://www.ocvfc.com/memorial.cfm

And another option is to have your loved one's name placed on the Reflection Tree inside the Convention Center on 40th St.  Prices for these are from $250 to $500.00, but twice a year they are on sale for half price.

I'm looking to apply for a waitress position, but I can't find where I can apply on-line or anything. Should I drive to oc and go talk to someone? The place I'm looking for is closed right now though.

Hello, My Wife will be celebrating a certain milestone birthday while on vacation in OC this July. I've seen the boats hug the shore line that flash messages to the beach crowd such as happy birthday & happy anniversary. They advertise events & restaurants too. Where can I go to get more information on beach surf grams? Thank you
