During the summer the inlet parking lot costs $1/20 minutes ($3/hour). If you are there less than 20 minutes there is no charge. Find out more here.

The boardwalk tram runs from 10am to midnight until Labor Day. It cost $3 per person for a one-way ride. Find out more here.

I'm looking for recommendations for reputable photographers for family beach photos in July. Thanks!

My family used Chris Praypa a few years ago (see above). We had a large group (15) with people ages 1 to 70. He did an excellent job and was reasonably priced. We had a really windy day, but he still took great shots of everyone.  I highly recommend him.

If you want a more basic package with a lower price too, Telescope does a solid job. You can either just flag down one of the photographers on the beach (they are on the beach everyday!) or schedule something with them. They offer more than just the telescopes, including prints of many sizes.

Have a great trip to OC!

Are there any motor coach services that still offer weekly buses to Ocean City for folks who don't drive?

You can take the Greyhound bus. It still comes to Ocean City.  In my town, we have a private charter bus company that goes to Ocean City at least twice a year.  There are three such companies in Baltimore.  Check with Gogo Charters, Superior Tours, and Prompt Bus Charters.

I will be traveling to Ocean City by bus. What is the easiest way to get to the center of the Boardwalk once I arrive?

The easiest ways are to walk or take the bus. It is likely that your bus will bring you to the West OC park and ride lot. From there you can take a shuttle to the South OC Transportation Center which is near the south end of the boardwalk at South Division Street. Form there transfer to a city beach bus or walk north on the boardwalk about a mile. The bus and shuttle are $3 to ride all day. Your $3 for the shuttle covers your bus fare for the day too.

If I want to avoid traffic when heading back to Baltimore from Ocean City, what's the best time of day to leave?

In the summer months, best time to leave OC to avoid traffic varies by day. The best time on Saturday is to leave OC is no later than 8am or after 6pm. On Sunday it is best to  leave OC before 1pm or after 8pm. On most weekdays you won't have lots of traffic in the OC area, so pick you departure time to avoid rush-hour traffic in Annapolis and Baltimore.

The beach bus travels from South Division Street to 144th Street on Coastal Highway - this is pretty much the entire length of OC (all but 2 blocks on each end), so the bus provides access to almost all of OC. There are also beach bus routes that go to the West OC Park and Ride lot and Tanger Outlets. It costs $3 to ride thee buses all day. Find out more about the Beach Bus here and see a map of bus stops here.

Try Boardwalk Segways. They are located in the Lankford Hotel right on the boardwalk between 8th and 9th Streets. They have wheelchairs, scooters, and similar. Call them at 410.289.1203 for more info or to make a reservation.

Is there a rule against unattended umbrellas on the beach?

If you have an umbrella and you need to leave the beach for a bathroom break or lunch or just to take a break, you can leave your umbrella on the beach unattended and nobody will bother it.  But close it if you're going to be away for a while so it doesn't blow if the wind picks up.

If  you rent one, and have to leave the beach, the attendant won't touch it until you tell him or her to take it down.

However, if you see an unattended umbrella on the beach it doesn't mean you can use it. It belongs to someone.

Just be sure to remove your umbrella at the end of the day or tell the attendant that you're done. You cannot leave umbrellas on the beach overnight.

Hi there! Are there any places in Ocean City that offer swim lessons for a 5 year-old while we're on vacation? Looking specifically in late June/early July, and then again in late August/early September. Thanks!

My daughters took swim lessons for three years in Ocean City.  It was a summer camp that offered daily lessons.  The link can be found here: https://oceancitymd.gov/oc/departments/recreation-parks/camps/

The person that led the camp also gave private lessons.  I would contact them if the dates do not work for you to attend.

Are there public toilets? And is the beach free, especially if I'm bringing my own umbrella and chair?

Ocean City's 10 mile beach is FREE, easily accessible (from the east end of every east-west street), clean, and guarded for its entire length. There are public restrooms at the following streets: Wicomico Street, Caroline Street, 9th Street, and 27th Street (in the tram station). Note that you cannot change clothes or shower in these facilities.
