Although SandFest is not happening, you can still see the one sand sculpture that started it all still there. Randy Hofman creates a sand  sculpture many times during the summer.  They are located  right across from the Bonita Beach Hotel.

Hofman creates the sculptures with water, a plastic knife, and biodegradable glue. The glue creates a sort of crust over the sculptures that protect them from the wind and rain. The finalized sculptures last about a month.

Year after year, Ocean City beachgoers continue to be mesmerized by Randy Hofman’s works of art. We can’t even begin to imagine who will replace Hofman when he decides to retire. His work represents a long history of tradition and holds a very special place in the heart of Ocean City, MD.

There are typically four trams in operation at one time.  Two heading north and two heading south. The trams are about 8 minutes apart.

There was a saloon-themed restaurant in the early 1980s. Do any of the Insiders remember its name?

Brass Balls Saloon opened in the '80's and is still open today.  They have a Facebook page with pictures of the restaurant.  Take a look and see if that is the restaurant you were thinking of.

Karl, my fellow Insider, may have some thoughts as well.  He is the historian of the the group.

Yes, there are a few places on the boardwalk that will do them. I can't remember the names of the stores but they usually have a sign. I had mine done at a t-shirt/souvenir shop, it was around 1st street on the boardwalk.  Sorry I can't be more specific lol it was years ago. Hope you find it :)

For a sunset wedding you will be on the bay. If you are looking for a hotel to hold your event The Princess Bayside specializes in sunset weddings on their bay front beach. Macky's Bayside Restaurant holds weddings as does Fager's Island.

The Town of OC has an event space, the Sunset Room located at the Convention Center. There is an outdoor pier and an indoor space for a reception. Northside Park has a gazebo and pier. You would need to contact the Town of OC to reserve either of those spaces.
